If you are buying a used 360 that was manufactured previous to 07 I would be very weary.

If you were Lt. Chekov from the OG Star Trek you would've said "wery weary", lol.
:| But I digress.
TC I agree with Vone, the older the console the worse the chipset is in terms of overheating and the chances of your new/used console RRoDing go up. I would also like to add that it won't be under warranty or if it is you won't be the registered owner of it. Either way if it DOES RRoD on you it's junk. Expensive junk. If price is an issue I would seriously consider getting a brand-new Arcade console for $200.
i dont want to get an arcade cause ill have to get the 20gb anyways and the xbox is a 2008 but maybe i can just get a new 20gb xbox how much are they

That would be the Pro. It comes with a 60GB HDD now, they scraped the 20GB. You can has it for $299.99.

so i should get an arcade then buy the 20gb hard drive? Yes .. Not to mention that the Arcade versions come with the new Jasper chip and are far less likely to RROD .. You can get a 20 gig HD on E bay for dirt cheap.. Just make sure the seller has a high score feedback ..You should be able to purchase a used arcade/jasper model at Gamestop. They had a bunch in stock in the back. I just made sure to check the back and look for the 12/v in the back and such to make sure it was a jasper.
