Natal seems more like it would be used for cheap shovel ware games, like that one their showing off with the balls. I don't think they would be able to pull off FPS controls, it wouldn't beat the standard controller.

i hope natal is terrible so they dont make big name titles on it

i think playing any long game or online on natal would be stupid cuz i really dont want to stand up for 3-6 hours. Although i would like to see xbox with a controler like the sixasis

Well supposebly they're making it happen. Not 100% sure though... It would be kind of cool, but I don't think it would be as good as the controller

Try playing FPS games on a Wii.. now get rid of the controller and see how well that would work. The accuracy would be terrible and you wouldn't be able to aim anywhere the way you would with a controller. It's possible they might give you an FPS but would you really want to play it?

I don't think Halo would work on Natal, I don't know if this is the same for anyone else, but I usually can't jump 30 feet in the air, so yeah...

With Natal, your hands are free, so yeah a FPS game could easily work if it merged the idea of using both natal and a standard controller as input.

Blackhawk, you totally missed his point. Games that require Natal may also require a standing position to play their games. You can't play a sports game sitting down, can you? So yes, you WILL have to stand up, whether you like it or not. And that's exactly his point. He doesn't want it to be mandatory to play games always standing up because of NATAL, when he can just be sitting back in his recliner with his CONTROLLER. Get the meaning?

Natal is nothing more than a gimmick to attract the casual market. Best we can hope is that they keep it out of our games.

lol I like how that guy Blackhawk insulted the other guy for saying he didn't want to stand up for 6 hours playing on Natal, and then he says something like you could play a game like fishing where you can sit. Yes, because that's why I would buy Natal... to sit there and pretend to fish :| The real interesting games on Natal will probably require you to be active and doing stuff and just like most of the Wii sports games.. they're not that much fun after the first 10 minutes. Can you imagine a full out FPS where you'd play for 6 hours standing up and pointing your fingers and stuff? I can't see it happening.. Maybe a watered down version of an FPS made for the casual gamer, but nothing good.

Or it could be a proper FPS that you control normally with your controller, but that also has head tracking through Natal. So when you turn your head, you veiw turns in game too. All im saying is that Natal can be used to varying degrees, and that I don't think it will be constrained to the casual 'party' type games where you are jumping and flailing about.

Won't turning your head mean you look away from the screen?

I don't mean fully turn your head, just a slight turn. Head tracking has been in use for years on the PC, so its nothing new, but things like this could be used with Natal.

so many people are mistaken by the use of Natal. No where did MS say they were developng a FPS for Natal. Natal will add an option to FPS like hand gestures for controlling your squad mates. there are already fishing games for game consoles so why is it so ridiculous to do it on Natal. you people will find anything to complain about.

To play the a FPS on th Wii you need to be sitting down so you keep your shoulder lock in a single postion. A shift in your shoulder and your aim will be off.

The only way I can see a Halo game working with Natal is if they made one similar to Time Crisis; where you have no control of the movements itself... just the gun.

You bring up somewhat of a good point. Natal might not be fully utilized in an FPS game.. it will probably feature something like you just described.. but in the end, is it worth it just for a simple hand gesture? If I'm not mistaken, I really hated the six axis control functionality and look how that turned out for Sony. It's so annoying to turn valves in Killzone 2.. when the rest of the game was absent of six-axis. If they can find other uses for Natal in a genre like FPS or TPS game, and it works very well with it, I would be totally cool with it. But for it to be a fully functional use for an FPS game.. it could be possible. If anything, Metroid on the Wii shows that motion controllers and FPS can be done incredibly well. I had a blast playing Metroid on the Wii. But that's motion controllers. I cannot say for Natal. We'll have to wait and see.

Just imagine that Natal worked seemlesly and fantasticlly (hard I know), I would definetly use it to a degree. Would some people here still not like it. I dont really understand wether the hate is geared towards the idea, the failing of the Wii or just expecting a shoddy attempt?

I agree that its not worth it getting NATAL just to do hand gestures in FPS games. its just an additional feature Natal is capable of. There are endless possibilities with Natal. voice command in games or for turning on/off xbox, making a music video with rock band or using hand motions to view netflix. also, in the future they could add a device that you can hold in your hand that Natal can detect. Its more versatile then what Nintendo and Sonys device.

reasons for poeple hating on Natal:

PS3 users

Nintendo users

Poeple that fear Natal can eventually eliminate controllers

Microsofts prices on accessories

young boys that think there less of a male or uncool by making hand motions to play games

OK. I figured it out. You hold the controller in your left hand while your right hand is free. You use the left thumbstick to move, and your right hand you do that gun pointing thing, and that is how you aim. And to fire you just flex your thumb.

I'm not reading all the post, playing COD 4, but I think a lot of people are misled, I don't believe that it will be used as the only way to play any first person shooter, rather, integrated into the controls to where you use it and a controller.
