I heard that Microsoft changed the motherboard in the elite so that it prevents various problems. Is this true? If it is, then i'll get an elite.

You're being rediculous. Every piece of technology you buy stands the chance of failing one way or another. A car, a TV, a microwave, a game console. So by your logic you won't buy any of those things. You know a PS3 can crash too. Hmm, do you own a PC?this sucks -_-
I guess I just wont buy a xbox then... oh well

Honestly sending it in is not that painful. Or if you do decide to buy, get it from Best Buy and get a replacement plan. Two years guaranteed replacement.this sucks -_-

Yeah.. the newer consoles are far less likely to RROD, and its quick and free to have it repaired. RROD isn't really a deterrent imo for the amount of enjoyment you get out of it.cheamesExactly how I feel.
i got my elite on the day it came out and less than a year later it got RROD and i take great care of it and maybe play 5-6 hours a week. so they def are not RROD proof.
this sucks -_-

While that's a good idea, it won't stop system failure. If it's electronic, it can break. But go with your insincts and buy that PS3. Buy it and love it!

Why???
Microsoft has been constantly updating components in all models of the 360 since it's inception. The 360 you buy today has dozens of revised or improved components compared to systems manufactured early on in the consoles life. The RRoD issue isn't really much of a concern anymore for new consoles. If you're buying used then you might want to look out for older consoles but these days Microsoft does (finally) have the 360 within industry accepted failure rates - so a new console won't everbe "RRoD Proof" but it willtechnicallyhave the same chance of breaking as your TV or your alarm clock. IMO new buyers have nothing to worry from RRoD, even if you should by chanceget it MS will fix it for free (usually within a week) for 3 years from date of purchase over and above its normal warranty. That's a better guarantee then most things out there you buy these days. If you want one without the worry, buy new, and enjoy.

Why???
whats so bad about that?lol I didn't literally mean "rrod proof"
i was just referring to a low chance of getting it.
and i already own a ps3 btw...

Ohhhh. I didn't know that. Nevermind then.

So by your logic you won't buy any of those things. You know a PS3 can crash too. Hmm, do you own a PC? No he isn't being rediculous. I am an xbox fanatic, Im on my 2nd elite after going through 3 pro models. So don't you dare tell people they are overreacting, this is unacceptable. All the xbots on here always say "ive never met someone that has had rrod" well that is BS because everyone i know EXCEPT ONE has had to replace they box REPEATEDLEY. I have had my car for 4 years(hasnt broke. I have had my tv for 4years, hasnt broken, my microwave is 8 years old, not broken. My first 360 died 3 months after i got it, the "refurb" they sent me died a month later, the one after that? 2 months out of that one. Then i waited for the "better performing elites" bought one with the new chipset/updated motherboard, less that 1 month later RRoD, the refurbished one i have now won't read disks unless you pop the drive in and out, and it keeps freezing on me. So don't say he is overreacting, the true failure rate of 360s will NEVER be known, microsoft has too much money for that to happen. But judging that only 1 out of 14 friends/people i know have not had they're xbox break, thats around 95% in my case.. the actual number is suppose to be around 30% - 40% so I say this, Xbox 360 is AMAZING I love the interface, system, features and game library, online functions and everything, and OBviously I love it, or i wouldn't be on my 5th xbox(or maybe ive just put to much money in now to walk away) IF MS had a reliable console they would own this generation ENTIRELYthe only reason they have a 3 year warranty is because they were FORCED into that rather than having the government FORCE a recall, look into stuff before you post. The accepted failure rate should result in a recall when even 15% are defective!! MS was way past that, and they admited it(sort of), usually any other company would have been sued into oblivion, but America loves capitalism i guessMicrosoft has been constantly updating components in all models of the 360 since it's inception. This is a bad statement because although every electronic can fail, the failure rate of the 360 is way above average and unfair to the consumer. There is no excuse for the horrible testing and business practices of Microsoft regarding the Xbox. Hence, the lawsuits.
no one can stick up for the 360 here, saying it breaks just as much as any piece of electronics. i still have a working mega drive, i'd like to see my 360 still working in 18 years time. this piece of hardware is GUARANTEED TO BREAK. and usually really fast. There's no excuse at all, its a terrible piece of hardware.
Don't get me wrong, I have one for the games and it is great otherwise but i won't stick up for the hardware, its that bad.
No its not RRoD full proof, but its less likely, but at the same time some people still have their launch system, like me. My launch system is still working fine but my elite did catch RRoD once.
Guys, when you do refurbishments, do they refurbish your elite with another elite? th3warr1orsometimes they do sometimes they dont. most times they just get yours then send you another one thats already "fixed" so that you stay happy with them. I only know two people personally out of all my friends with 360's who have ever gotten their actual elite back and thats because they wrote the numbers down. but it took about twice as long for them to get theres back as it did when mine broke down
