You mean the Internet Explorer ? Yeah I tried it on my 360 and MS "Gold-blocked" me, I'm assuming it will be the same on the X1.

Only time you can use the internet without gold is when shopping on the XBL store for games.Other than you cant even use your netflix account with a gold subscription. Microsoft puts everything behind the gold paywall.
