My xbox 360 got the RROD recently so I was actually considering switching to wii this time since I never really went on and tried wii or kinect. But once I saw the wii games collection I actually got pretty disappointed that there aren't any serious titles. So I got another 360. So, I was wondering is the kinect worth getting? are the games responsive enough. If i did buy it i would most likely be playing it with another player. Is it suitable for 2 player games? are the games too kiddish ? i'm just confused...

If you're looking for "serious" titles like you mentioned then you might wanna do some research. If you like the wii then yea kinect might be for you, but imo it is geared more towards family and casual gamers. Which is fine if that's what you're looking for. As far as it being responsive, the 2 games I've played for it was pretty responsive but I can foresee the new wearing off on those games pretty quick which is why I haven't bought a kinect.

Thank you guys. I don't mind the occasional family game from time to time. But i'm wondering is the response on the Kinect good enought? is there too much delay? between input and action? Because i also have a ps3 so i'm wondering whether 2 move controllers is a better option then a kinect

Response time is pretty good. There's no noticeable delay.

Let me put it this way, no game on kinect has it where you can move your character forward down a large hallway, they don't even have walking down on kinect, where move has actual games that just use it as a control scheme and sorcery looks really promising, there isn't a none family type game on kinect, it's best application is the yoga game

I traded in all of my Wii stuff to get the Kinect, and I don't regret it. The Wii just sat there and collected dust.

I don't play the Kinect as often as normal games, but I recently bought "Yoostar 2", and I am loving that thing. (I don't consider it a game). It can be pretty hilarious, but that all depends on how creative/funny/straight up silly you can be.

I also just picked up "Fantastic Pets", and my 4 year old likes that a lot more than he did Kinectimals.

Child of Eden is looking pretty good. There's a Panzer Dragoon game in the making. Forza 4 is going to make use of kinect. And E3 is just around the corner so you can expect a bunch of new games to be announced.

Wii has more serious games than kinect...

-Conduit 2 is great, best FPS on the wii and it's awesome.

-Call of Duty Black ops, modern warfare and world at war ar all on wii.

-House of the Dead: Overkill

-Redisdent Evil 4

-Monster Hunter Tri

It also has a bunch of games that aren't that serious, but are great fun...

-Mario Games, the best ones are: Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 (amazing) and Super Paper Mario

-Rayman raving rabids games (not too sure how many there are) I've played a few of these and they are all great fun.

-Madworld. Not too serious but extremely gory and crazy. Great fun.

Kinect hasn't got many games yet, but will probably get good games. I heard that Microsoft bought the domain name: www.kinecthalo.com :shock: :D

Both are great for motion play.

well thank you guys... I think I'm gonna get it next month or just wait for e3 maybe.

and yes wii does have some serious games but the 3d engine being equal or worse than the ps2/xbox1 generation just pisses me off...

[QUOTE="hkymike"Kinect > PS Move > Wii End of discussion

In terms of what?

Sales = Wii > Kinect > Move

Games = Move > Wii > Kinect

Potential = Move > Kinect > Wii (cuz wii is dying now no more potential)

oh here we go qualifies as fad = Kinect > Wii > Move oh wait that doesn't fit either, I'm stumped

I personally sold my Kinect after a bit of use, but that's me.

Most people I've heard of that have it, love it.

I can't get into motion gaming dude... haha... it just isn't for me I guess.

Haha how on Earth does Move have more potential than Kinect!? Move is a super Wii with fancy graphics and way better games. Basically, we've already seen that, for 5 years now. Kinect is a freaking barrel of potential with it's new technology. I don't like any of the three, but potential? That's Kinect.

Tell you what, once I see a dev be able to make a character walk down a hallway on kienct I'll re-evaluate it, but as it stands as I see it Kinect doesn't have much potential people just think it does. You can make real games with move you can't with kinect thats how move has more potential and the tech behind move is alot different the wii thinking they are the same just proves how little you know about them, ps eye has more in common with kinect then move does with wii

The paintball minigame from "Deca Sports Freedom" features full movement, like you are asking, not just an on-rails shooter like everything else that is being announced. You step forward to move forward and turn from side to side to turn your character. Sidestep to strafe, and step back to center postion to stop moving... you get the idea.

Granted, the response for the controls is completely lousy, which can be read in GameSpot's review...

"Then there's paintball, a sport where technical issues are the least of your worries. Paintball's absurd and deeply misguided control scheme is Deca Sports Freedom at its awkward pinnacle. You're asked to trek around a battle arena, take cover behind objects, and wield a gun as though you were in a first-person shooter. At least, that's the idea. In execution, maneuvering around carries all the elegance of a toddler taking its first step--you're just sort of oddly swaying your body around in the direction you want to move, trying not to tip over, and flinging your arm up to fire the gun."

Although the controls are lousy, the potential is there. I've noticed that the responsiveness of the Kinect controls definitely varies between developers. I would love it if Rare would take the programming from Hudson and see what they can do with it.

I really like the kinect but the problem is there really isn't any good games out for it at the moment . I think you should wait a couple more months until more games come out.

I agree. The only game I have is kinnect adventures (what came with it) and it was really fun to play with friends but the novelty kinda wore off.
