I hear many of you saying GOW is a dissapointment, because of its bad multiplayer. But shouldnt the main game be of more importance? why is the MP growing more important in game play then the main game itself?

It's so important because there's many great SP games out but would you pay $60 just for COD4 SP? I've played it and loved it. But without MP it wouldn't be that great. After a few weeks tops most people would be bored playing it and over over. Just adds great replay value to games and lets you see how great you truly are at it.

The whole point of video games used to be the single-player not the online multi-player.
It seems like most of the companies who make video games are slowly losing site of the single-player part of games and only focusing on the online multi-player parts of games, also it seems like alot of gamers are just going along with this. To me that stinks because most games used to have single-player parts that lasts for 10 times the length that games are now and they had no multi-player, and there are some newer games lately that have no single-player parts and have online multi-player parts only.
I am not saying that I do not play any online multi-player games as I do but only a few, as the only online multi-player games that I have ever played and play are Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for PC and Xbox360 and GRAW 1 & 2 on Xbox360 and COD 2 & 4 for Xbox360 but with those I like the single-player parts much better.
I am 33 and I have played every video game system that has been released in the USA since the Pong, and I still have most of my console systems. I also have played PC games since 1999 and have almost every year upgrade my PC that I build myself. So I know video games, and I am not saying that I am better then anyone else as I am just trying to make a point that video games have changed over the years. Which I think video games are changing for the worse not for the better.

i spend the majority of my time playing the multiplayer.... while the sp campaign is usually only around 8-10 hrs.... the multiplayer can last forever. I even bought a game (shadowrun) that doesn't have a sp campaign, but an awesome multiplayer.

if you consider a game with good multiplayer a good game, then it's not really a good game, it jsut has good multiplayer. a good game used to consist of a good story, good gameplay, and if possible, a decent multiplayer. now, for example cod4, you get a half-@$$ story, and all the concentration is on the multiplayer. you pretty much pay $60 for a game where the formula is spawn, kill, die, spawn, kill, get a lucky kill, die, rush to the good weapons, die, game ends, OH YES I LEVELED UP! that's what multiplayer has become. game companies don't have to do anything now except make a good mp, and then they get flooded with awards which is complete bs.

SP was really important back in the days, I still remember the time I was playing Banjo-tooie and Zelda:OOT on my N64.

but what I like about MP is thats its unpredictable, you never know what people are going to do next.

I love MP, but having excellent multiplayer is no excuse for having sucky sp, you should have both.

and i totally agree. I almost wanted to get COD4 before i hear that all the peaks and level up system was only for MP? i mean.. isnt that forcing you to play MP, where you have to play that same CS experience over again? i always enjoy a good SP storyline, one that is fun to play.

Look at GTA4, is this going to happen when GTA4 doesnt have Mp? like the rest of the GTA? what about Creed?

Well i agree with most, Multiplayer is great, hell the majority of my life has been playing online games. But when i look back, no game can compare to the all night fun of games like Zelda64 and GTA2. Id never want to sleep. Halo..pfft... i play until i get owned and goto sleep. I really hope they make more great SP's. GTAIV will be an example of a great SP i hope

The only thing I don't like about MP is that I see a lot of devs make a short SP campaign and just rely too much on the MP to sell the game. Its easier, instead of adding 6 hours more worth of SP you can just make 12 maps for MP and that will add hundreds of hours.

But I still find SP the best. Oh, and melee attacks always seem glitchy some of the time online, its wierd.

GOW is a great game with great MP but if you beat its 10x over what else is there to do, i think its important that there is MP because when you do beat it over and over again its like, well what the **** do i do now the game is pretty much useless.

ahh i remember the days when what attracted people to play games was that the devs would put you in the shoes of the hero to take down the sinister bad guy at level 10. now, devs are aware that MP = MULAH so most devs screw the SP and work on MP so that people will buy it and play it over and over due to replay value. i mean it's worked for Socom 2, there's still players on that today!...i think... but im glad that devs like Valve and 2K games are still making quality SP games on online-enabled consoles.

games are becdoming more competitive now...times have changed. MP is the best in my option. i come from the day of commador 64. I now prefer MP games. its more exciting to win beating real players then a code driven computer software. IMO

I still prefer to play singleplayer games. So MP is not as important to me.
