I spend so much time reading up on games and trying them out but im probably only purchasing nba 2k10 and forza 3 until the end of the year i think.... Maybe i'm older now(36 here) and starting to realize some games are not worth my $60??

Some other ones that interested me but i saw enough on youtube, movies etc.. These are all high quality titles just not worth $60 to me I guess. I'd play through them once and bleh.

Batman-great reviews. I see what it is though and im not really into it for some reason

Dragon Age-I really like good rpg's every once in a while. Still might get this one, but no multiplayer is a major drawback

Borderlands-looks cool. Kind of Fallout 3ish with a different look and not as much rpg'ing. Probably will pass though. Not big on first person shooters

Call of duty-see above. Not big on first person shooters. I've played the other ones and halo. That's enough for me....

Halo ODST-i like the halo story and art style. It's a good game i'm sure. But Halo was never that great to me and worth $60.

Pro Evo-Not a big soccer fan but if a sports game of any genre looks amazing i might get it. EA sucks imo(although i did waste $60 on madden again this year. But EA basically does the status quo and rarely if ever releases anything that good anymore). Evo looks good but still a bit robotic to jusitfy a purchase.

Mass Effect 2. DEfinately buying. Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 definate buys. Might get Splinter Cell not sure. Not much else..... That's all next year though.

So yeah NBA 2k10 and Forza 3 look like $60 worth of game to me for sure and will keep me occupied. I feel like i'm lame in my tastes though or something. Dragon Age maybe..... The past several years i've wasted so much money on this stuff. Maybe that's why.

Only you can decide whether you are lame or not since its your preference. No one can decide your preference other than you yourself.

Didn't need to read your post to say: no, it isn't. Taste in games can't be lame... it's personal.

Though, if you don't think it's worth the 60 bucks, get it used for around 40 or wait until it's 30 bucks new. Around that time you can even get it used for 20 bucks or under.

That's what I usually do. Only game I'm purchasing this year is Borderlands for 55 bucks. All the other stuff I'll get for less. There is also only one game next year I'm paying full price for and that's Mass Effect 2. All the other stuff I'll get for less.

Like the others said, you can't have lame taste in games because it's all personal choice. Other times, you grow out of genres and you may come back to them or leave them behind forever.

Nope, they are actually good games, which take time to perfect. Like mass effect and other rpgs take time before you can get good at, along with forza 3. You can't just pick up the controller and tear it up.

I came in here expecting a 12 year old asking that topic question....You are 36 years old and asking if your taste in games is lame? On an online forum? I thought one would realize as they get older that opinion and taste is subjective and doesnt need confirmation from young gamers on an online forum....

take pride in your personal taste, trust your instincts; in time you'll be rewarded with more confidence.

Of course it's not. This coming from a fellow 30 yr. old gamer. Our taste and preferences are different. As are they in every other aspect of our lives. I think perhaps as we age we do become more aware of our finances. Add in a mortgage and a shaky economic grid...and you have a whole new process in which you choose games.

I must say, you have exquisite taste in games. Besides soccer and NBA (not because I have anything against the games, I just don't do sports), I'll be grabbing all those games.

Yesh i was just bored so posted this. I guess it's not so much it's lame. Thing is i used to fall for the hype and buy a lot of these games because gamespot would give a game a 9 or a 9.5 and so i'd buy it and 2 weeks later be like why did i waste $60. Gears, halo, older call of duties are good examples of this. these games were ok but i can do without them. Maybe i'm just getting better at knowing what i like and don't like. dead rising 2, brutal legend look like fun but most likely rentals. call of duty i'll pass. batman i'll pass. nba 2k10 gotta have. Forza also looks pretty good and like it will keep me occupied although i was somewhat unimpressed with how easy it was. MS and EA have this knack for catering to the masses which i dont like so much. I like really high quality games that have a lot of depth to them or at least humor. I used to love the old monkey island games. tahts why brutal legend kind of gets me, but i played the demo and EA also cheeses it a bit. Planescape torment is one of my favorites. Thats why dragon age sort of interests me. Mass Effect 2 will be really good i hope. The old fallout games were great but fallout 3 was just ok. Something was lacking in the story, dialogue and atmosphere.

I used to work in a mall and managed an old babbages back in the day all through highschool and college. It was so easy to talk about games and try them out or go down to the arcade and see what i liked and didnt. These days its harder to do that and i end up wasting a lot of money.

Dude it doesn't matter what others think of your gaming. Its your style, do with it what you please. The only objection i have on that is COD. It rocks dude! Lol.

You're actually smart. You aren't like those idiots who buy a new $60 game every freaking week. I have no idea how they waste money that easily but whatever, it's their life. There really are only a few games every year that are truly worth buying, for the most part. A lot of people don't care and will just buy anything that they "think" will be cool.

99% of games are not worth my €70. I'm only getting MW2, AC2 and SC Conviction at full price. The rest can wait until a price drop.

yeah exactly. out of that whole list i would say only a few are worth a purcahse. NBA 2k is always worth it to me. I bought ghostbusters. it was fun but was a rental at best. i was done with it in a week. Brutal legend will be the same. Wow was worth a purchase and spent tons of time with it. Diablo and starcraft always are. Thats about it. none of those other games were really worth purchasing. Mass Effect 2 an argument can be made. Same with any bioware rpg. They have a lot of depth. Fallout and oblivion probably were but i played them for a while and got bored after a while.

Well everything you mentioned are your tastes in video games, which is all your opinion obviously, so I don't see how it could be considered "lame".
