I love hack and slash games and I'm a big fan of DMC and DMC3 is my favorite game of all time . . . I finished DMC3 and got SS ranking on all the missions which was pretty hard unless if you really invest time in the game, now I want another game just like it, like you can't go passed mission 2 if your a newb kind of hard (which is what essentially happened to me in DMC3), so I tried Bayonetta which was just challenging at best and God of War which was cakewalk even with your tv turned off so I'm thinking of trying Ninja Gaiden, so which Ninja Gaiden was the hardest and is it really hard or is it just challenging??? is there like a dante must die kind of difficulty there wherein you die in like 4-5 hits???

Yeah, it's hard. With a lot of difficulty options so you will be for quite a challenge if you play the hardest ones. If you have a PS3, try Ninja Gaiden Sigma, it's a remake of the first one for 360. If not, then try Black. Ninja Gaiden II can be pretty cheap for the 360 but it's still fun.

Ninja Gaiden may cause gamer rage. I've almost broken a few controllers playing that game.

Yes, the 360 version is very difficult on all levels. Cheap too. With surprise deathsyou won't see coming at the most annoying times. That's why I prefer the PS3 version, it lacks blood, but it seems more fair. A lot easier, but it still has very hard difficulty levels, the highest you can literally die in a couple hits.

Perfectly said. It's not hard it's just that Ninja Gaiden punishes the player for making any kind of mistake. Keeping up combos is also very important.

I played Ninja Gaiden II on normal difficulty, wasn't that hard.. except the final boss. That one was challenging.

LOL Ninja Gaiden on NES is a great game too, but TOTALLY different. Also, Ninja Gaiden in the Arcade, on Atari Lynx, and sega master system are all another version.

Perssonally I'd recommend starting with Ninja Gaiden Black for original Xbox. then NG2 for xbox360. I think NG2 is quite a bit easier than the original, but maybe it was just because I had practice of the repetitive deaths on NG on original Xbox. VERY frustrating game at times. Also note that there is "Ninja Gaiden" and "Ninja Gaiden Black" on original xbox are nearly the same game. NGb includes some DLC (that obviously you cant download anymore) and it has the extra easy mode if you are having a lot of trouble. Also if you get stuck there are some GREAT video walkthroughs on youtube that I highly recommend.

Also, if you are interested in the NES game, it's included on the X-box games. I think the NES one is included on both the original and Black, and the ardade one is only on Black. Not entirely sure about that though.

It sure is hard. when you play it though, you start learning patterns and new strategies that make you feel like a complete badass. if you played ninja gaiden 1 like I did,2 was like a cake walk, maybe 3 will be the same.
