I heard this game is really good, fun, and I saw some gameplay footage which provided a pretty scary looking and easy to get freaked out environment which is right up my alley but I just never got into the whole RPG thing.
I tried FF7 and didn't like it at all, thing that pisses me off about rpgs is all the dialogue and cutscenes you have to pay attention to.
I finished ALOT of Zelda games, I LOVE ZELDA series, ever since I was a little boy, beat Mario RPG and nearly beat FF3 but lost interest.
I know there no timed hits but as you see Im not a huge RPG fan and I dont even think Zelda is an RPG series.
So from what you know and If Im like anyone else you guys know who have played it tell me what you think about what my reception will be of this game
renting oblivion is a bad move, it's hard to get into at first because the amount of features and things you can do is overwhelming and you'll get confused like hell and put it down for like 3 days proly.
If you don't like RPGs chances are you wont like this. It's like the ultimate RPG and that, to me, is boring.
The combat sucks, if you've ever played the game "Thief" it's exactly like that, dated, old and boring, it's got a load of bugs and really, if you're not into RPGs you'll get nothing but boredem and frustration out of it.
Take it from me, i can't stand RPGs either but i gave this game a chance.
If you dont like long cutscenes and dialogue that you have to pay attention to then get oblivion because its a really great game but nothing like FF. Which I think is even better
i'm an fps freek. i didn't even like morrowind. i loved oblivion. sure it would have been better if it had some guns in the game, but i still played it for almost 300 hours.

Its funny how different people are....I found it to bore the hell outta me. I cant stand RPG games and this game still bored me to death.
How long did you play it? Because I only got bored after I put more than 300 hours into the game. I'll most likely put another 50-60 hours into the expansion. It was that addicting.
Its an Action-RPG. Kind of like Zelda, where if you strike at something, it will hit. None of that invisible dice stuff. I have it for PC, and might pick it up for the 360 sometime, but its pretty great.
I absolutely loved it, it is my favorite game I've played since Halo actually. However, I am also a huge fan of western RPG's so I may be a bit biased.
Well I'm an RPG fan so I've got a little bias going on but.......
Compared to most RPG's Oblivion is pretty much instantly gratifying. As soon as you start playing you're out and about killing stuff. There is only a small prologue of the story leading up to you're escape from the first "dungeon" then you can do whatever you please. If you don't like RPG's then you won't have to worry aobut getting bogged down in the plot.
