Well it depends on whether or not you can rally up a group of friends to play with you or not, obviously. If you can get that to happen, it's a blast, and way more fun than Guitar Hero, but as far as solo goes, well I think Guitar Hero has the edge because as far as guitar goes, Rock band feels severely lacking in terms of songs that are fun to repeatedly play.
It also depends on your skill level with guitar hero, if you're a hard mode player then you'll probably have plenty to do with the guitar in Rock Band, but if you're going straight into Rock Band with an Expert mode background in GH then you're probably gonna breeze through all of it, and not see much reason to go back and play some of the earlier songs. Of course all guitar rhythm games since the first one have sort of had that problem, once you master one of them the others following that begin to have less replay value.
As far as drums go, I just don't see them as satisfying to play solo as it is with a guitar controller, and singing microphone solo is fun, sure, but it's also sad and kind of makes you rethink your life.
