Is the Force Unleashed this year's black sheep?

I think it definitely is. Just like there is a game or two every year that is actually pretty good but gets ripped apart by game journalist nonetheless. Yes, we all know it's a pretty short game (took me 5 and a half hrs on hard), but that 5 hrs was amazingly entertaining but most importantly fun.

Ok, it has glitches, but what games doesn't? The thing is though, this time most reviewers got stuck on one glitch and just kept going on and on and on and on abuot it whilst the 'review score was spinning down rapidly'. Now that we're talking about scores, I actually think that GS's 7.5 was a good score, but such as GameTrailers's 6.9 and 1UP's 50/100 were downright ridiculous. They're basically saying that the game is rubbish and on pair with such japanese crap like the Dynasty Warriors series. Oh, yes because it was repetative... When I heard that comment I was like: I'm sorry, what??? So if TFU is repetatve than what is DMC 4 or NG II? TFU has a great collection of combos, you can boost your stats by killing enemies in a stylistic way. HOW THE HELL IS IT REPETATIVE??? I'm sorry but this game is not anymore repetative than any other action game!!! They both had higher scores for funnily stupid reason.

Also, I feel that most reviewers pulled the technical quality of the game down just because they thought: 'Oh, what the hell, I might as well'. I have to say that TFU has AMAZING graphics. Raxus Prime made my jaw drop and that hasn't happened since I stepped out of the sewers in Oblivion and saw the scenery and that was back in 2006, 2 whole years ago. Also, the physics are amazing as well but I should not even have to mention that, and I am not going to. Last thing I'll mention is the story which is QUALITY. It is better than the last three SW films put together.

At the end of the day, fortunately people bought this game nonetheless and they are still buying it, I mean 1.5 million in first week, that's more like holiday blockbuster titles.

This is a GREAT GAME BUY IT!!!

It seems hating on good games seems to be the big fad of ´08 which is why a crap load of gamers are ripping in to it. As for the reviews, what do you expect? Its a Starwars game. If we had the exact same game only set in the Ninja Gaiden or God of War universe it would have been 8-9. Im not saying reviewers are corrupt, I just think that the label has alot to do with their final judgment on a game.

Now is TFU the blacksheep of this year? No I dont think so, I honestly believe that Too Human would be the blacksheep of this year.

This game doesn't even come close to being in the same league as GoW, Dmc4 or other action adventure games. It shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as those games. This game shouldn't of even come out period.Dabbagins

he's been trolling all the threads dealing with TFU, going on and on about how he's suffering through the game, and has to force himself to finish playing it because of how horrible the game is. Hes one of those types I mentioned earlier. Hating on a game for no reason other for the simple fact that its whats "cool" on the forum these days.

i actually had more fun than assasin's creed

but there is a lot of space for improvement so I agree with gamespot 7.5 is fair

this game would've rocked if they hadn't made a wii/ps2/psp/ds version, so much more time for finetuning the little bugs and stuff that drag it down

Last thing I'll mention is the story which is QUALITY. It is better than the last three SW films put together.

Hang on i meant the last three films which were pretty much commercially and critically crap not the original trilogy but either way i like how you said that reviewers are trying to fail it. But it's funny how if this was a game under the GTA name it would've been in the high parts of the review table. I don't no.... Reviewers are meant to be objective and tell you the truth about game not take revenge on publishers by critically destroying their game just because it wasn't perfectly perfect...

The fact is that no matter how good the game is, a seven hour only single player game with no side quests or multiplayer shouldn't be bought. I rented it and beat it three times over the course of a weekend (only took me three playthroughs to max out all my skills).

I think the gamespot score is fair, it wasn't an outstanding achievement by any means but it was fun and an overall okay game.

Black Sheep definitely goes to Too Human, I still get a laugh out of these reviews and user comments that address concerns that are so foreign to me. One of the most fun games I've played in awhile.

i find it fun, but it would be more interesting if:

1.the game was longer

2.had co-op of some kind? maybe making things generally harder with a co-op player? could be fun.

3. multiplayer duels? =P

4.they extended the level caps for skills

i dunno thats just my opinion, still a great game though

I believe that games that get diversified reviews are really the ones to get that end up being classic. You know if a game stinks it gets the universal thumbs down 'don't buy this if your life depends on it' deal. But when you get a game that is not slanted in its acceptance it is usually a decent game. I did not think that TFU was a spectacular game, but I do believe it IS classic. Let's face facts: The story was very well written and professionally acted & the game was fun to play. Yes there have been comments about the targeting and some of the mechanics are difficult -BUT WHO THE HECK WANTS A GAME THAT IS SO EASY TO PLAY THAT THE PLAYER GETS NO CHALLENGE WHAT SO EVER? Not me, hopefully not you either.

Lucas did us just with The Force Unleashed. How many games can you remember this site or another game site that gave rave reviews to a game, but when you laid down cash or rented it and played it at home you said to yourself 'This game sucks!!'. The true gamers know that feeling. Remember when 'button mashing' was bad and analog control for action was better in the eyes of editors and reviewers and what did we get, foolish designers that gave us games like Tombraider Angel of Darkness & Jet Li's Rise to Honor'. Them games stunk. What happened? We went back to button mashing and got classic games like 'God of War'.

Tech people and reviewers have ideas that are tested and become true or false bad or good. They are not perfect. Neither is every game that comes out. The real choice is in the hands of the buyer. If you liked it its yours not some buppy that thinks his opinion is the only opinion that counts.;)

It's a great game, but it was way too short. I beat it in less than 5 hours!!! Either I was a speedster or it was pretty short; and from the way I play games, I think that it's way too short.

the gameplay is pretty good but nothing impressive. It sold very well so it must be somewhat successful. It's a really great experience but for me, it's not worth $60. You can easily beat it within hours than days.

i didn't want this game...but then about 3 or 4 of my friends told me they loved it so i decided to pick it up...glad i did to

its a good game for venting anger lol....and the art design for some levels is out of this world (buh dum psshh)

Ill say it again, God of War. Slightly longer campaign than TFU (but not by much), 0 replay value to it and its still considered one of the greatest hack n slash games ever. Or atleast on even footing as Ninja Gaiden, granted that had a much longer campaign, but lets not kid ourselves here. How much of the length was due to long level design, and how much of it was due to having to do the same parts over and over and over again?

If you want another example, fine how about Bioshock. Yeah I know different genre, but still 6 hours to beat, 0 replay, no MP and people are calling it the greatest game of our generation. People hold it up on a pedistol for its great visuals and great story (though IMO I thought the story blew hard), just like TFU.

The overall play time of most games is completely dependant on the amount of time you put into it. Oblivion is a great example of this, 6 hours to beat if you only do the main storyline. Yet theres hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay it. Now please dont think Im putting TFU up there with Oblivion, despite my personal feeling toward Oblivion Im not going to be that foolish. Im also not saying that TFU has hundreds of hours of potential gameplay to it. Im just saying that if actually do everything in this game, its going to take more than 5 hours to do.

yep i completed the game in 7 hours and then sold it but i still thought it was a fantastic star wars game.
