i was wondering does the new Xbox 360 Arcade also suffer from the
numerous errors and the infamous Red Ring of Death?
hmmmm so is the new Arcade worth buying or not?
i heard they changed the structure of the Xbox 360 Arcade
i already have the premium edition but its screwed. it got the red ring of death 6 times and now
the E 74 error has appeared on screen.
seems like the DVD Rom is now messed up.it happened while i was playing COD 4.
so i was thinking of buying the Arcade and attaching the HDD from my premium to the Arcade
but i have to know that the Arcade is much better now than the previous models.
its not 6 consoles. its just 1 console and 6 times.
nopes didnt wrap it in towels or anything.
after the 6th time when it was repaired it was purring like a kitten. all quiet and cool. no over heating issues.
but then the E 74 error popped up.
i care for my consoles more than i care for my health.

Hmmmm...and you have had 6 RRODs? Hope you are going to the doctor soon, then. LOL, J/K.
All new consoles, according to reports, should not have any of the existing issues with RROD problems. That just rumors though, and only time will tell if they did indeed fix the issue.
I would personally contact microsoft and tell them that your 360 is very problematic, and now has the E74 error. If you complain enough, you just might be able to get them to send you a new one to replace your old one. Its worth a shot anyway. Considering you've had nothing but issues with it, they might be inclined to replace it.
people only get the red rings if they dont look after their 360 properly.master-renagade
That is a *$*## damn lie right there. The system design is FAULTY. This is the first time I've ever went through more than one of any system. You tell that to those of us who are on our 4th xbox (like me) who take better care of it than anyone else in the world and you'll get messed up. The arcade is not designed any differently than the other models, except for the lack of various features. It is just as prone to failure as any other model. I love my 360, but the design is crap. Thank goodness for awesome software support.
No, the premium, arcade and elite systems are the same. If you are getting the arcade be extra sure to check the barcode sticker on the box for the lot#(it should be 739 or higher to get the falcon chips) and check if it says 175w instead of 203w.

I take immaculate care of all of my systems and still went through 2 PS1s, 2 PS2s, and am on my third PSP. My original Xbox (the fire-prone one) is still running strong, and even my 15-16 year old TurboDuo and Duo R consoles work great. Just go to Walmart and buy a small $5 fan (not those crap Pelican products that use the 360 power supply) to point at the back of the 360 and that will help greatly. I've played mine constantly for over a year and it has been just fine.
It doesnt matter how you take care of you system... It still happens. The new arcade units are exactly the same as the pro and Elites. They all have the HDMI output and the new chipsets. The only downfall is it doesnt come with a HD. But if you cant get your 360 repaired, then buying an arcade is the way to go. Just use your old hard drive.
Since the new chipsets have been out I havent seen any returned at my store so far. I work as an SGA at gamestop. So that is some good news.
You mean to tell me that MS won't take your system for repair if you have that problem. My DVD drive just stopped working, more like it won't eject and I was planning on contacting MS about it. Though the drive will often not read the disk that is stuck inside.i already have the premium edition but its screwed. it got the red ring of death 6 times and now

Also, I was under the impression that the arcade version does not have the port for the HDD, but I could be wrong of course.

Yeaaah... no. My 360 was perfectly cared for and it lasted a year until I had to send it away in exchange for the one I have now.
i find it VERY hard to believe that ANYone could be dumb enough to send back an Xbox360 6 freakin times!!! How could you let M$ get away with sending you the same POS that many times?(even if it was over a 2 year period of time)
Did you check the S/N to make sure it was the exact same unit? And if so, i'd claim lemon law. They should have replaced the unit after the 2nd time. and if they refused to give you a new unit, then stop sending it to them.
If my 360 breaks, i'll send it back 1 or 2 times. If somehow my unit breaks again after that, I would get the hint that M$ was trying to screw me. BUT, hopefully my 360 will keep working for the next few years. (and since i didnt buy the 360 right when it came out, it's not likely)

I believe you. My first 360 was purchased last year in about february and i barely played the system over and hour. This was before the news on the rrod was as common as it is now. I only played it an hour or two for oblivion when it came out but for the majority of that year i didn't touch the system because none the the games really appealed to me. That said, a week after i got gets of war i got the rrod. My system was never in an enclosed space and because it was so new and unused I paid extra attention not to let anything happen and a week after playing gears of war in no more than three hour sittings because i was always working i got the rrod. I can tell they didn't send me my original one back but this time i keep an laptop cooler underneith it. I almost got the red rings again when i took it to wisconsin with me but luckly it fixed itself. I know alot of fanboys love to blame the user saying that you did somthing stupid to get the rings but that's b.s. The system had these problems within a year of being out. Who pays four to five hundred dollars on a brand new system and immediately mistreats it? Even my first nintendo still works and its caked in dust.
thanks for the info.
ill see what i do about it.
my warranty is void because i got it repaired at a local retailer instead of sending it to MS all the way
to America.
