I just find this so hard to believe, it really seems like 25%+. People i talk to on live always say they have been through 2 sometimes 3 counsels. On this form people are talking about it like they are droping like flys. How can we really truly know what the real failure rate is? I have a lanch cousel and it frezzes almost every other day. It makes weird noises sometimes. I love xbox but it feels like we are getting slapped in our faces. Its like driving a pinto with a V10 Viper engine!

well, I too enjoy my Xbox...but the 360 failure is not the 3-5% Microsoft says it is. There's just no way. That being said, the problem is only exaggerated on messege boards. I'm on my 3'rd.

how can it be exaggerated if your on your third and so is the guy above you?
Of course it always seems like people's systems are breaking on the forums. Its becuase the first thing they do when it breaks is go on the internet and let people know they break. And its always the same people who post in the "My 360's broken" threads.
If every person on the forums here came on every day and posted new threads saying "My 360 is working fine today", it would look like there aren;t very many ones being broken anymore.
But ya, i can believe 5 percent. Thats over 500,000 consoles.
I was considering getting a 360 but after reading post after post after post about consoles dying, often multiple times, I'm starting to feel like I shouldn't bother....why do all the consoles suck this year? They all have some critical flaw...

how can it be exaggerated if your on your third and so is the guy above you? People who flock to message boards are most likely people who are more "hardcore" and play the system for longer periods. Although, I could be wrong and maybe Microsoft is just lying to us. I don't know...

COMPLETELY agree. People online are going there for the reason of getting help with there consoles. And if you really count it, there might be a few thousand online. But yeah looking at the statistics, 500,000 is still a lot of consoles.
I recently had to send mine in and I should be getting it in a couple days. I still have respect for Microsoft owning up and fixing all the consoles for free. That takes balls.

also everything that is mass produced has defects simple as that
now another thing if think that percentage is total crap read this part

Your taking my comments too far. I don't think the defect rate is 3-5%. I also don't think condoms defect rates are are always the 1-2% they claim they are. It's a just the way businesses operate. I don't think the defect rate is 50%, it's probably more like 15% though.Â
I'm on my 3rd Xbox 360 and a few of my brothers friends are having problems with theres too. After recieving my prepaid box from Microsoft I dropped it off at a local UPS store and talked to one of the workers there and they told me that they recieve plenty of 360's for return everyday...so I honestly believe this is a huge problem even greater than the so called "5%". I think that number is more like 20%-35% no exaggeration either. Everyone I know that knows someone who knows someone has some type of problem with there 360, weather it be 3 red lights or disk getting minced to bits this problem is more widespread than we all know it's just a matter of time before Microsoft has to realisticly admit to it.
