I am just wondering if there is any point in getting a xbox 360, mainly because if heard that a new xbox is coming out soon. I've wanted to get a 360 for ages but never seemed to get it and as time went on i have got more weary on getting the 360 because of wondering if a new xbox comes out, so there would be hardly any point in getting it.

So all i am asking is should i get a 360?

Thank you

If you're a fan of shooters, or you enjoy online play then you should seriously consider 'jumping in". Although these arent the 360's only strengths, it is certainly where it shines the brightest. Fair Warning though be prepared to spent a fair amount of money on gaming if you do make the purchase though, from what I've read the average 360 owner has an adoption rate of something like 7 games, and the wii and ps3 are around 3 apiece. (I know I personally have like 15 games, and just about every one of my friends owns somewhere near the same amount) So hopefully I havent scared to off or anything, because even as a victim of the RROD 2 times, the 360 is still one of my favorite consoles of all time. and the online play definately adds an awesome new dimension to those who havnt tried online gaming previously.

They havn't even announced a new system yet, so it will take about 2-3 years before it develops and even then will probably be delayed.

If youre only buying a 360 for Halo, then dont bother...

In all seriousness though, its the best system on the market at the moment. Fantastic games, amazing online service (less than $5 a month).

Army of Two is a pretty good game too, but you should rent it because its either a love or hate game.

And if the second poster is correct about the 10 year plan, AWESOME lol.

The next one will either come out 2010, or 2012. I think 2012 would be better, because by then the graphics will blow us away, like this generation did, and it will give games like mass effect and too human to live out thier lifespans on one console.

the adoption rate refers to the amount of games the owner of the system purchases, so in this case it means that the average ps3 owner and wii owners usually purchase between 3 and 4 games while 360 owners usually average around 7 or 8.. If software sales will win the generation of systems then Microsft is definately doing well

I really wish a 10 year lifespan is true, because I hate that I'm finally getting the most out of my console now, and perhaps at E3 a new one will be announced. It makes me so mad. Sometimes I wonder why I even game anymore when the time I finally get the most out of my console, it's time to buy a new one; that's just a personal opinion though.

If you can afford the 360 I would say buy it because of the variety and significant price difference of used games that you can get for it opposed to the Ps3. Sure the newest games between the next gen systems cost about the same but 360 has got a much broader variety of good and not so good games. There are also the other many things that 360 offers like a decent backwards compatibility list, online gaming, and connecting to your computer.

I bought my 360 last November and it's already broken. It kept telling me to insert a dvd.

I'd go with PS3 if I was you. I own a Wii and 360, and had I not built up my game collection so much, I probably would have just gotten a PS3 instead of a 360 when it broke.

I'd say 360. I own all 3...and for gaming, my 360 is first choice. Seems to get better graphics and stability on games, as well as more extras. PS3 is not a bad machine, but games seem to be better on 360. 360 controller is way better too, imho.

thats correct because of their chosing to use advanced hardware, nintendo will come out with one probably at a little earlier time probably in an 8 year period, to create somthing that includes the control scheme of wii and graphics of next xbox/ps , i think thats what nintendo planned in the beginning which is smart because their plan right now is working , also they said its testing grounds before so ya, we will see all 3 for nearly or exactly 10 years if not the usual 5 years which would be 2 yrs away for 360 . so get one, , either way 2 yrs is time enough to save up for the next one ,

I agree 100% with what he said.... and I raise that with the 360 has also made me a fan of more games than any other system. The online is so addictive that if I can't sign on for some reason I just will turn the system off. Multiplayer is incredible (minus the dbags you encounter every so often) and even if they are planing a new system it will be holiday 2010 or later so divide that expense by a few years and then kick yourself for the years you have wasted waiting for a price drop.

What do you mean adoption rate? Ive never heard it lol.

Adoption rate ='s everytime you bring a new game into your home i.e. purchase. basically the 360 has made more people spend more money on more games @ a faster rate than any other previous system.
