Is there any way to acquire Smash TV now that it's removed?

Is there some kind of conceivable workaround? The game was removed from XBLA, but people who already have it can still play and download it. Is there any way at all to still get this game? I used to play it on snes and I want to give the "No Continue" achievement a go. No one seems to have it, but I completed it without dying on SNES back in the day.

The no continue achievement is glitched so even if you wanted to try and get it you never can. As for downloading it after it's been removed.. only way is if you bought it before it was removed or know someone that did then transfer the licence to your 360.

I have it on my xbox, downloaded when it was available.

Because Midway went bankrupt so all their games (UMK3, Smash TV, Paperboy, Robotron, Joust etc.) were pulled off the marketplace and the ranked servers shut down.

Probably because Midway went bankrupt last year and is in the middle of a windup. I personally don't know if Smash TV was among the properties bought by Warner Bros. during the proceedings, but in any event, the game's rights changed hands. Without a clear line as to who to send along the cut, MS probably felt it best to pull the game until the new owner (if any) gave the go-ahead to re-release it.

this is why you KEEP your original Xbox, that way you can play midway treasures. :-) but it would have been nice if MS had done a better job of Backward compatibliity (or if sony had kept it in their ps3.....)

You're right about keeping your old Xbox...I did...but Smash TV is an Xbox Live Arcade Game that is no longer on the Marketplace. Not an original Xbox title.

What he means is you can play Midway Arcade Treasures if you have an original Xbox (it has Smash TV on it). It won't have achievements tho.

But what I'm asking is if you can play it on your 360? From the tone of earlier replies, I suspect not.

I would think you could still play the game if you already purchased it a while back.

I have Midway Arcade Treasures 2 and 3 for the original Xbox and neither of them work on the 360, so I'm assuming Arcade Treasures 1 doesnt work either, which is an incredible shame because theyre excellent games.
