when i brought my xbox 360 i thought the only way to play online was to pay 39.99 for a year for live gold, but now i realise i can download demos with my silver account, and i can also play big team battles on halo 3, so i was thinking; is there much point in paying for gold at all because as it goes i can live with just playing the social battles, what are the advantages for xbox live gold?

...what are the advantages for xbox live gold?

Um...the fact that you play most games online in intense mutliplayer action? Multiplayer is becoming so huge these days, that most game developers are trying to make that a strong point of their game. You'll have massive amounts of replay value added to your games as well. You're missing out on games like Call of Duty 4.

Well, I am missing out on games such as Call of Duty 4 as well, because my Xbox still isn't back from being repaired...

Xbox Live gold is really worth it, I really don't think I would even keep the console if I couldn't use it.

Gold is worth it. It's $50 for a year, come on.

you can play social battles on a silver account? never knew that..

But the point in buying gold is playing online multiplayer. Halo 3 is the only game that allows multiplayer on silver (if it even does...)

and isn't there also something about downloading demos. Like you have to wait 2 weeks after a demo is released to download it on silver?

gold is way better than silver because you can't do online multiplayer with silver and 60$ for 13 months of gold isnt unreasonable

Get Gold... just because Halo allows some games to be played with a silver account doesn't mean all games will do that.

If you just got your Xbox Live Account then you get a free month of Gold, and Gold is much better then Silver thanks to multiplayer.
