Could be wrong, but what you might be hearing (or not hearing, as it were) is the disc ceasing to spin. The way video games work (and I'm using my own words which might be wrong, but are sound in theory)isthe console reads a ton of info off the disc and queues it up for immediate use (ie: your "load" screens.) In doing so, once it has the necessary info in queue, the disc need not be accessed, so it need not spin, unlike a DVD or CD that has to spin continuously as the information is accessed and realized constantly. This is what lead to the death of many 1st gen PS2s that tout DVD capabilities; the laser eyes weren't desinged to constantly access information over an aof 1h 45min all the time...

Nothing wrong, it makes more noise when it has to access the DVD, when it doesn't it's quite. Take Mass Effect for instance, it almost constantly needs to access the DVD so it always makes noise. It's fine, and it's the best games system ever, imho!

and take my advice, if you want: wnjoy your gaming system and don't be paranoid. When you post these kinda thoughts that cross your mind in internet foruns you most likely will hear nightmare stories and "your doomed" statements, because ya know... ppl tend to be happy when they know about other ppl's problems/issues, hence, kiddy phrases that starts with "muahahaha", and such.

Nope nothing is wrong your 360 caches up the game data in its memory so that there are not constant laod times from acessing the disc.

mine does that a lot too. sometimes when you hear it completely stop the game freezes and you get an error... but as long as you don't hear a wicked grinding noise you should be ok. it just happens on the xbox but i still cringe everytime it goes from a high rpm to a sudden drop in rpm's...

lol that used to happen to me... then i looked at my disc and it had a nice scratch on it. i take care of my games and it makes me mad when for no reason the system itself scratches the disc...
