is this 2015 rumor really true

Are the Xbox 360 discontinuation rumor true? Microsoft can't be serious, look how long the ps2 lasted and still lasting, microsoft can't just discontinue a good ol model. The fact that maybe they'll discontinue the old models and continue along with the new model.

I hope the fact is true on what I think, microsoft can't be serious about the lifespan of a xbox 360. If that means the old models are breaking then its fine, I love the new slim anyways.

releasing the slim was purely a business move. What happens is they have to find new ways to make money. They cant resort to dropping the price forever though because eventually it will stop being profitable so they make a new and improved model and jack the price back up. It dosent mean that they are planning to end the 360 anytime soon though. The 360 has been a success for MS so far and is still selling strong so they will looking to make it last as long as possible. I still see at least 2 or 3 more years left in this gen especially with the release of motion peripherals for for both the 360 and ps3.

The original xbox only lasted 5 years. In this rapidly evolving market and given the short attention span of most users, be thankful the 360 hasn't already been discontinued

It's not a rumor. It's speculation. Besides, the Xbox 360 and PS3 are already the longest lasting console generation ever.

Same here, a 9 year life span is good enough and I'm sure they could make some big improvements.

i doubt they will discontinue it they will probly just release the next and let the other one slowly fade awsy like the PS3 did to the Ps2pokemondude2012

I think by 2015 there should be a new xbox, or at least an announcement for one. The 360 hardware is older, but it's not bad by any means, i just think 10 years is long enough, by 2015 it will be outdated. i don't think they should discontinue the 360 though, the slim is a solid model and the PS2 is a good example of a system that has lived a long and prosperous life even into many of the PS3's years, i think the 360 could do the same as long as microsoft doesn't discontinue in order to force customers into buying a new console.

Sorry, I didn't realize you've been to the future and have magical non-existent proof that something might happen. There won't be a single word I'll be eating, considering I'll be sleeping and waking up on the 22nd with having nothing changed.

First off, the whole 2012 thing is just another apocalypticpretense on the same note of y2k, the rapture (no offense intended toward Christians), and other such banter. People just read way too much into it and mass hysteria sets in, it's always "the end times" because we want to believe we are the special generation. Calendars end, many have gone before. Besides, the long count calendar isn't even a pure Mayan construct, they borrowed it from another culture.

Anyway, this is way off topic so I shall desist right there.

To the point of a new Xbox in 2015? I'd have little trouble believing it but I personally believe parts of the question are "will the 360 still be profitable come 2015?" and "when are Nintendo and Sony coming out with their next gen?" Nobody wants to be far behind the curve and why jump the gun if the current gen stil rakes in the cash?

Just my thoughts on it, take it as you will.

Maybe everyone could be screwed up on the dates, instead of it being 12/21/2012 it'll be THE 23RD! or the 31ST! dun...dun..duuunnnn :P nah I hope not theres alot of things I want to do before I die :D

But anyway I thought I read somewhere where Microsoft said they would always continue to upgrade the 360 in the future and they kept going on about it don't remeber much else then that though, now I may be wrong I dont know. If it's the truth what I read then wouldn't that follow into 2015? I personally believe there is so much more Microsoft could do with the 360 to upgrade it. Make the most beast of all inventions if they wanted to.
