Hey now i measured the distance from my tv base (wehere im going to place the inect) to closes ot my couch, i measured by....sigh. laying down and seeing how far i reached whilst touching the base of my tv "stand" And im about 6'2 feet, and i didnt reach all the way to my couch. Maybe an extra 30cm? So is this enough room for kinect to work properly.

Not sure, but you can always buy that nyko kinect clip on accessory that's suppose to allow you to play kinect in small areas that you normally wouldn't. I don't know how well this works but it may be your best bet.

I'm 90% sure 8 feet is the required minimum distance.

We have less that. If I used your way of measuring then we have less space than you and we play just fine with ours.
