Okay my little neice is coming over this evening to stay over and I am trying to think of suitable gaming forums that she can log on to without getting any abuse, so I am asking is this forum family friendly? i.e. Can I safely leave her to post here while I hit the boozer? :|

To be honest no gamespot forum is family friendly, you're going to get alot of idiots who post unneccesary and rather immature comments who are impossible to avoid on a daily basis. I'd would advise another gaming site forum.

Well, most of the time these fourms are ok, but sometimes they can be hectic with fanboys.

A. How old is your neice? B. If she's into games why not let her play them instead? C. I hope you're not the only one going to be there because that's pretty lame to sit her butt at the comp while you go get your drink on. If you do't want her getting her feelings hurt or getting crap from people forums are never a good place.

She is 13. I am not sure whether to let her use my username or just setup a new one. Secondly she will be playing games too as I will be heading out shortly to buy her some (Viva Pinata included). No she has a friend staying over too. Heck I just want them to enjoy themselves while they are here and not get any online abuse should they go on. Thanks anyway.

There is abuse on all forums. I don't think this place is as bad as say Eurogamer.nets forums where every user gets attacked for almost every comment and any sensible comments are ignored but you've been a member here long enough to know if the site is okay for your niece. If she's easily insulted then no, if she ignores idiots then the place could be okay. I wouldn't recommend it though. You'd be better off with a site that does a lot of topics and has a gamer section. People tend to be friendlier on those sites as they get a lot of newbie's or whatever. Something like boards.ie but for US or wherever you live might be suitable.

The fact is that anyone can post an offensive picture. So, this forum isn't completely family friendly. There has been nudity. Although the accounts are immediately banned, the damage is done.

I don't know considering all the spammers and porn suicidals that are on this forum. So the answer is no, it's not safe. But at least the 360 forum can be somewhat safe.

Yer i wouldn't worry, no one's gonna say much to her but tell her not to mention she's a girl because if she does then people start saying stuff to her (i should know).
