Is this True? Will 360 get the stripped down UT3?

Epic Games' Unreal Tournament III is a PlayStation 3 exclusive for 2007. The main reason, according to the developer, is that Sony is more open to Epic's proposals for an open system to allow game modifications to be run on the PS3. There may also be another, however, for Epic's apparent favor of the Sony console.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival, Epic Games VP Mark Rein spoke highly of Blu-ray Disc's storage capacity. In fact, Epic may have to omit several maps in the Xbox 360 version due to space constraints posed by the traditional DVD-9.

"We'll compress some things. But you know, we may have fewer maps on the 360 version... Blu-ray has definitely given us a lot of legroom," said Rein in an Xboxer story. "And what's really cool is if you think forward and think about what we've done in the past with UT. We had UT 2003 and then we had UT 2004, which was everything in UT 2003 plus a whole bunch of great mod stuff that we went out and purchased from mod makers."

"If you think down the road, well maybe the next UT beyond this one, on Blu-ray disc, we might fill the whole damn disc with all the cool stuff the mod makers make," added Rein.

Nah, I just think people like taking negative spins on thigs like this to make one console look better than the other...
I'm sure there will be differences between the versions, but using this as an issue doesn't make sense to me.

Well PC doesnt have a problem with harddrive space. Most games you can do full install and never use the game disc/discs again.

Have you ever had a game install more than 9 gigs on your drive? I haven't.

Like I said, quotes like this come up all the time on both "sides" and it just takes a wrong turn down a dark alley each time and turns into fodder for System Wars. I just don't buy it.

The PS3 version has:

1. Keyboard and Mouse Support

2. Usable PC mods

3. Cross platform play

4. Free online

IF the 360 version has those features then it'll be as good as the PS3 version. I wouldn't worry too much though. The 360 has plenty of other high quality shooters to play. Bioshock looks amazing. Halo 3 is Halo 3.

Why wouldnt they be kissing Sonys behind. MS made Epic sell their gears maps which Epic was a histroy of never putting a cost of downable conent on the PC. Epic is giving keyboardmouse support, PCmods, better graphics(watch the sony press confrence sony sent in a team to help Epic) and more maps. This could be a big F u to MS also Epic vice pres was prazing blu-ray and MS lack of a HDD and disck space. But it sucks that 360 owners like my friends wont have the best version.

Unless you plan to game on the PC then you are sadly mistaken my friend. Made for PC/ Best on PC/ WAAY Bigger Community. PC FTW Sorry mate its true, but yea PS3 is right up there and hey remember PS3 supports Linux and so does UT3. You never know you can run the Linux version of UT3 on the PS3 (that would be hella sick) and have the best of both worlds.

Oh also if this PC and PS3 things works then it should mean the same for Linux players to.

Also knowing Epic if this whole "Microsoft allowing Mods" thing actually works out to what we assume then Linux players should/would be put into the mix and then we'd have a much much bigger community for UT3 and this game could possibly be MMORPG status of WoW. If that's accomplished then well... Hoorah!

Amen to that brother! Also UT was ALWAYS about the content. In my eyes I believe it was Content first and Gameplay second. I say this because the community are the ones to actually control what was in the game and made cool game modes like VCTF and many other mods.

I'll be buying the PS3 version with mouse and keyboard FTWmfp16

1. What kinds of responses did you expect in a 360 forum? The majority of people are, at the very least, very happy with their 360. This despite their problems breaking down. That tells you how sweet the console really is if you ignore the failure rates. ITs just alot of fun. So keeping that in mind....again ill ask you....what answers do you expect in here??? LOL!

2. Now every time the PS3 gets some kind of negative news, it DESERVES the "another big blow..." comment. You know why? Its simple logic. Ever since it was released, for every piece of positive news that came out there were at least negative ones. From loosing all those exclusives, to looking downright stupid and full of themselves with their ridiculous comments (yeah...rumble is last gen. No one wants that right?!?!? Guess what, it may be old, but when its not there people miss it.), its just been one thing after another.

So...in an effort to teach you common sense. After all the "blows" that the PS3 has received in the past, each subsequent "blow" is, in fact, ANOTHER one to add to the list. Therefore, "Another big blow for..." not only makes perfect gramatical sense, it also makes perfect rational sense!! Wow who would of thought!!

no need to worry guys...the only difference between the 360 and ps3 version will probably end up being the M/k support, read this, i just found it on the UT3 board for the 360
