[QUOTE="Overlord93"]So, of course, within the last month of development they obviously completely overhauled the game in it's entirety? This is just an excuse, if they hadn't have launched the beta, they would have released with half of these issues still present. To imply that a game like battlefield would release an unfinished demo is absurd. EA wouldn't let them. A build that is 1 month old is not old at all, especially when that is the last month before release, at which point the game should be pretty much done. This is a Demo, not a beta, a demo. Calling it a beta build is almost laughable.firefox59
They submitted the beta several months ago, because it takes quite a long time for it to actually get cleared or whatever to be put on the Marketplace by MS or the whatever store on PSN. So, the code really is several months old. It's not like they submitted the game build they had on the 27th and it was just out on the 27th. They submitted the build they had a few months ago, and it's now coming out. So, they have had actually more like 3-4 months to work on the build that we are seeing now. The game would not have released like this any under circumstances. Also, they had to tone down graphics, destruction, the physics engine, etc... to make this game playable in beta form.
The download is only 1.3 GB... you seriously think this is a demo and that this is how the final game will look? Demo = a short level of the final game, not an old build of a game that is toned down heavily. This beta is not indicative of the final game, not by a longshot. Walls go out in the beta, entire three-story buildings can go down in the retail game.
I love when people come into threads, read nothing and then post something that has already been addressed/proven wrong/whatever...
I don't understand why everyone is using this excuse. The "it takes months to get something up on XBL" policy applies to every company so why is this being using for Battlefield when other demos / betas don't have these problems. I think that is the issue here. It's not like other games go through a shorter period to be uploaded onto the DL service.I personally haven't found any glitches but apparently other people have. The real problem people are having is the level that was chosen for the beta, and namely no vehicles. Even though EA announced the map to be used months ago.
I'm not trying to make excuses for DICE, just explaining why the beta is the way it is. A lot of people don't seem to understand that the graphics will be much better in the actual game, the destruction will be much more complex, and so on, or that this build is not the final one at all.
I think DICE should have made this a larger download, even if it had to be really large, and really showed off what they had, instead of toning down the graphics and destruction so much. Or, they could have just not had an open beta at all. They already had an extensive Alpha testing period with really dedicated members of their community, so this was really just a stress test/promotional beta. Could have just been cut out altogether. I'm sure people will be wow'ed on the 25th by how good the game looks, plays, etc... but this beta is gonna leave a bad taste in the mouth of a lot of people. I really like it, personally, but there are tons of people who don't...
