Would like to see Epic finish Gears and tackle a new IP. There's clearly talent there. Just not being utilised.
I never understood the love for Gears, as the main character somehow is more annoying than the entire cast of KZ2/3 (well, ok maybe they're equally annoying the more I think about it). I get how it was important for when it came out, but I could never get into the games. That said, I'd like to see Epic try something new, as others have said, they can probably still make a cool new IP, but who knows, they may be keeping that underwraps until next-gen hits.
Honestly I think Epic was an amazing company for what it has done with the first 3 games. I know that the Gears 2 release was horrid, but at least they made efforts to change it and listened to the community. I loved what they did with the DLC in that game because they offered a lot of great maps for a great price. Even with all the lag/glitches I had a lot of fun with the game. I really enjoy Gears 3, I think at this point there really isnt anything wrong with the game. Solid maps, balance, everything I liked. Of course there are some things to change, but its still great. The campaigns were amazing, and Horde mode was well done. After Gears of war 3, I think Gears and Epic are nothing compared to what they used to be. Cliffy B and Rod are gone, and the franchise is really hurting. I don't know any Gears fans that are actually looking forward to the MP, it seems like they've taken a step back rather than forward. I will still rent the game to play the campaign because I like it, but I think I am going to stick to Gears 3 for MP. oJoRdAn23oi didn't know judgement already came out.
Judgement is actually looking pretty good to me. I mean it isnt looking too much of an evolution from gears 3 but from what I've read it sounds a hell of a lot better balanced than 3. Sawed off is nerfed no more 360 deg blast radius. Retro is nerfed and no more retro 2 piece, no more ridicules insta downs from crazy damage boost from active reloads. That one is huge actually because it makes the game more about skill and who happened to be coming into a fight with active reload. In gears up to this point its actually been custom to purposely empty your clip just to get the damage boost. What was a good idea actually ended up stupid in actual implementation. Active reload is still use to speed up reloads so it still plays an important role. Ink dosent stun and the list goes on and on. As someone who knows gears up and down i have to say these are smart changes that should make the MP more fun and competitive.
[QUOTE="PonchoTaco"]Gears 2 had a horrid release?white_soxYes, it was straight up broken. Indeed! It was disappointing! I am a Gears addict, I agree original and 3rd one were the best! Judgment isn't even out yet. We'll just have to wait and see how it is. Either way.. I'm getting to have a complete collection.
Speaking about multiplayer.. First one was quiet amazing! I couldn't stop playing it until there weren't that many people around. I kind of gave up on multiplayer when second came out. It was pure garbage.
I enjoyed Bulletstorm but was worried when I herd People can Fly would be developing it. Now there is no executions or locust I'm a little pissed, but after hearing the only multiplayer modes are Free for all, TDM, Domination and Overkill, with mentions of survival, I have lost all hype.
Maybe I would feel better If they showed the game off but no previews or new gameplay vids are comming out they are still quiet on a lot of info surronding the game, it's out in a month you think they would get people pumped for it.
I'll get it none the less but Gears was one of my favourite franchises but this doesn't feel like a Gears launch for some reason. With God of War and Bioshock coming out in the same month, Its going to be a tough sell.
[QUOTE="PonchoTaco"]Gears 2 had a horrid release?white_soxYes, it was straight up broken. This. I enjoyed the campaign, but damn... the multiplayer was filled to the brim with all kinds of bugs and glitches to exploit(funnily enough, they're turning one of those glitches into an actual feature in the gameplay for Judgement).
Loved the Gears series 1-3.
It's the only "exclusive" I give a crap about, the rest I only play multiplats.
I expect Judgement to be equally great.
