Just a few reasons why xbox live gold won't be free.

No.1 - The servers, these are the things that host all the data your xbox live account has and guess what they cost money to maintain. They also host the games you play in which is different from the PS3 online as microsoft hosts all games but PS3 makes the companys who make the games pay for the servers.

No.2 - This is Microsoft were talking about the most vulture-like company in all of the world they'd lie to your grandma for a few quid.

No.3 - Although this has nothing to do with xbox live, MMO's have been doing this for years, sure they will have a trial game (in this case xbox live silver) you won't be able to play fully, get to the highest level, get all the gear, see all the places (xbox live gold)

So quit whining, and enjoy the online games.

I think it will be free eventually maybe not this gen but the nest if Sony and Nintendo can manage to chatch up. But if Sony and N figure out they can charge for online also then all hope is lost.

Also never played MMo just based on the fact you have to pay a subcribson then pay for the expansion pack. What are you doing with all that money people throw at you?

I don't know blizzard who make world of warcraft must have some stupid amount of money.

£30 for game £20 for expansion and then £8.99 a month and it has like 8 million active accounts thats insane

So what, its not that expensive.

Besides, the free ones like Sony's suck. Paying makes it a better set up.

And with that payment Microsoft keeps it's server running. Sony asks developers and publishers to pay for that. Problem is, some companies don't want to do that so they dump the online part in the PS3 version. It has happend before and will happen more often in the future. So I don't mind paying Microsoft, especially since it's a lot better then the competition.

no it will never be free for the simple fact every one that has a 360 loves their achievement points and if you want to keep them and show off online you have to pay trust me business is business nuff said.

rrr i have a 360... and i could care less about my achievment points. i think they are the dumbest thing ever and dont get why someone would boast about being a couch potato.

i know lol i played so many games on battlenet free... and then the xbox comes out.. and people are paying for online... sure i acan afoord it but for years i played most of my online games for free.
