Just curious, but who else has experienced the ring of death?

I know I've seen a posts about it here and there, but I figured I would try and post a poll to see who here has experienced it.  Reason I'm asking, is I've gone through 3 in the past year alone, 2 of which were covered by Best Buy's product replacement plan (thank God I bought it).  I just feel like maybe I have the worst luck.

By the way, this post is not intended to bash Microsoft, so please don't do that here.

I experienced the red ring of death once, however I was able to fix the problem by moving the power brick from the carpet and plugging the console directly into the wall instead of a power strip. My 360 has worked fine ever since.

its weird, I've only seen it once, and powercycling the machine resolved the error. This was just after the huge powersurge which hit the Eastern Seaboard, in North America. My 360 was on at the time... Anyway I don't think those three red lights mean your units dead... its more to indicate your system is in failsafe mode, and needs troubleshooting.

Twice. The first time was 6 months after I bought it. I did the troubleshooting provided in the MS webpage and it was fine. But 3 weeks after that I got it again due to pretty hardcore overheating, and had to send my console for repair (I got it back in 5 days though). For my second console I bought a computer fan, and now it doen't even get warm.

Yes I experienced the ring of death as well as freezing. The people at EB games said to plug the power supply directly into the wall (just as gruoch says) rather than a power bar. Voila, it worked fine and never saw the red ring again. I'm guessing the console is VERY sensitive to power fluctuations or somehting...

Is that how long it takes?  I just got the ring of death the other day but I power cycled and it worked again.  I think I may still send it in for repairs but I didn't know how long it would take.

Some people don't get it again, I guess is a matter of luck

My question was about the time it takes for Microsoft to turn around a system that has been sent in to them.
