An overwhelming feeling of disappointment for me I'm afraid, the fully customizable weapon feature is a nice touch but has the game actually progressed that much from the first instalment? I enjoyed Dead Space 2 because the novelty was still rather fresh, however to produce a third instalment which is reliant on the same key points which made its older brother so successful is no longer acceptable. The gaming industry has spoilt us over the last 15 years, visual and handling development has exploded onto our game consoles on a gargantuan scale, we have become difficult to please and unless significant change from one instalment to the next is made I fear our favourite genres will begin to whittle, I have no doubt our favourite game developers are plowing endless funds into NEW development's, just don't rely on a game engine which is almost a decade old to win you any future awards. Change Change Change!RichySe7enI agree. To me it felt tired tested and overplayed. Same feeling i had with GAT4 on its release.
I liked Dead Space, was a decent survival horror. Dead Space 2 was a third person shooter with some jump scares.
Dead Space 3, with its co-op and Mass Effect dlc rubbish just seems a bit of a joke to me. Not even going to try the demo.
Seemed like good solid necromorph blasting action to me. I'm interested to see how the co-op aspect will play out.
we have become difficult to please RichySe7en
Not true. Not true at all.
We are finishing a gen where the vast majority of games were FPS trying to copy the best seller of each year, which has been the same game every time with different maps.
When a new game came up and sell well, a new installment on the franchise would be created, but losing the essence of the first, and aiming towards the already mentioned GOTY.
Entire genres have disappeared or are about to.
No sir, we are not difficult to please, if anything, we are pleased with COD, FIFA and MADDEN, year after year.
If things keep going this way, expect next gen to have only 5 games a year, and the rest be DLC for those games.
Now back on topic, I only played the first 3 minutes of the demo, so cannot give my opinion, but from what I've seen, it doesn't feel as good as 1 & 2. Although, I'll have to play it in order to give an honest and educated opinion.
Yet I do believe there is hope. Take Slender for example, an indie developer made it, everyone liked it, now it's going high budget.
Not many companies care or dare to go and explore new territories, and I do not blame them. I'd probably do the same in their place.
That is why, when a company dares to do something not "COD"ish (don't mean COD the game, but it's influence on devs), I usually buy the game.
CD Projekt for example, they made The Witcher 2 for PC. Gamers complained about some stuff from the game. Then they solved those complains and gave the content for free on PC, and the extended version for 360. They were involved and they deserved the support. The game wasn't the best one out there, but pretty damn good!
We as gamers should support the games we like, and the genre. If we only buy what reviewers say is worth it, then the whole industry is lost.
Heck, I bought Splatterhouse (3.5 on GS I think), and had a blast with it. Finished it twice, which is pretty rare for me, and loved it!

Really? I think XBLA and PSN download games are keeping genres like platforming and adventure games alive.
In fact, an adventure game won GoTR in some lists this gen.
I think my top ten games this gen would include about 2 FPS games

Change Change Change!RichySe7enI agree that it was too much like DS2. I was also disappointed that it was the E3 demo. I was hoping to get a taste of what they haven't shown us yet.
From experience, I've always thought the demos for Dead Space never came close to representing the actual games for some reason. Though I can't comment on the DS3 demo since I haven't played it.

I will buy the game alright, I haven't said otherwise, however if the demo is anything to go buy it will be lacking something other installments hasn't..... Of course I will be buying it, I'm the ultimate horror fan.......i'm staying well clear of dead space 3.

I loved the first 2, but I didnt like this one at all. Cyanide4Suicid3please elaborate, the demo or the full game?
I have to admit i felt my heart sink as i was playing, it felt like nothing but regression. When compared to the pure white knuckle terror inducing Dead Space 1 this feels like Dead space has made its final decent into 'Generic sci-fi shooter' and with the emphasis on co-op in this one i completely felt the fear factor had been lost! Dead Space is headed in the wrong direction :(
you got all that from a 10 minute demo of a 15 hour game that gave you almost no setting or backstory at all huh? wow, you must be some kind of gaming genious.I have to admit i felt my heart sink as i was playing, it felt like nothing but regression. [QUOTE="Cyanide4Suicid3"]I loved the first 2, but I didnt like this one at all. RichySe7enplease elaborate, the demo or the full game? Wow. Im not sure.... Common sense bud.
It still mostly felt like dead space. But in the Previous 2 games, I never used the heavy weapons (guns), I always relied on just the Cutter...but in this demo, I felt like I "had to" us that gun with the way things were presented. Not a huge deal, but I don't like being forced into it like that.
And I could do without this upgrade system...I don't want Dead Space to be an RPG...and I love RGPs
WAAAAAAAAAA wtf is everyone whining about, it is the third in a trilogy, nothing more than the continuation of a long story, why should it be completely different than the first two. Â We have become spoiled at this point in gaming and are like children, wa it doesnt have enough new guns, wa it doesnt have as much scares as the first one wa fucxin wa. Â Get over yourselves.
I somehow managed to read my way around that hash up and understand what in the blue hell you were on about..... A forum built to discuss gaming believe it or not contains many aspects of gaming and in the main people discuss their feelings towards a game.... If you intend to stick around further I'd get used to that idea if i were you..... I know you're kind, you wake up everyday and measure your genitals against a can of coca cola praying that the bulb has passed the rim of the can, we chat bubbles because it entertains us, embrace it sir and stop trying to measure up to the rest of society........ Relax!WAAAAAAAAAA wtf is everyone whining about, it is the third in a trilogy, nothing more than the continuation of a long story, why should it be completely different than the first two. Wierd, I found Dead Space 2 to be much scarier. None of this series is or has been survival horror.
