Is it good?... Repetitve?...Whats the deal on the game -- I know the basis of it, but never read any reviews on the game when it first came out.

I think it's an amazing game. It's a thriller. I don't think you'll be "scared," I think you'll just be sucked into the story; it's great. Any game can be repetitive. But the story isn't just go here, kill this. You go to new environments in each episode and you get to do different thing and get new weapons. I love it. :Dorb_03_2006i agree with you on everything
Aye they did a good job on the game..Its one of the better ones this year along with red dead so far..My top two this year for sure..
Orb already did a good job summing it up, only thing I can do is give you a tip for playing. Don't be afraid to use your ammo it will go away after each chapter break so there is no point I stockpiling any of the ammunition.
Great game...However...It is repetative. Some said that you go to different places and do different things, well, this is not true. 90 % of the game you are in a forrest and you will know what is coming or awaiting you there. It seems very repetative to me as far as atmosphere but you do get to complete different objectives which is beneficial...

I played through Heavy Rain with no issues but played Alan Wake for 5 minutes and decided I can't play it through. So I'm selling it on CL.
I have anxiety problems though I think. :\xTpux
Lol! Anxiety problems? You'd never be able to play through one of the Silent Hill games then =] Anyway, Alan wake is a superb game.

I guess the best way I can put it is this. You won't be scared but you will have a lot of suspenseful moments, and more than likely you will jump a few times if you play the game in the proper environment (no lights on, sound at a good level, or better yet with headphones on). It's a lot like Dead Space.
I will also say that the few times you are actually in the daylight you will be very happy, it will be a welcome relief. You will dread when you have return to the dark. Alan Wake does what it does really well.
I wish Alan didn't run like a chronic chain smoker. That's the only thing I hate about the game. He starts a full run from his normal sprint, and then he's out of breath 3 seconds later while 4-5 taken are beating on you.
Otherwise, it's one of the best Xbox games I've played all year.

I know what you mean. As soon as I start to run, I stop because I'm scared I'll run out of breath when being chased. Hell, *I* could run longer than he could without stopping...I wish Alan didn't run like a chronic chain smoker. That's the only thing I hate about the game. My mother has can run longer than him and she's in her 60's. I spend half my time yelling "WHAT THE **** is wrong with you RUN you stupid ***** THERE'S A STREET LIGHT RIGHT THERE!
He's not expected to speed along like someone from Infamous or Prototype, but it's not realistic at all to instantly lose all stamina when running, ESPECIALLY being chased. Doesn't the man have any adrenaline?
Well, good luck to all those athletes that think they can run faster and have a lot more endurance. Especially, with a pocket full of batteries, flashlight in your hand (if you are lucky, otherwise good luck with the lantern), a pistol and shotgun on your back....plus ammo...
Yeah, good luck once again...
NOTE: it is all part of the realism that Remedy wanted to create. A movie like, believable experience...

Solid Snake carries way more crap in his pockets: Missle launchers, sniper rifles, card board boxes, gas masks, guns and he's pretty damn fast for an old man. Alan needs some Redbull. :)
And yes, as I've obviously stated before, I'm fully aware that Alan sprints and not walks the entire game on top of running, but there's really no excuse why he wouldn't get that natural burst of adrenaline when being chased.

Well, maybe he does not care if he gets caught. He is not worried at all...Think of it this way.

Man you are so right, he runs like 10 yards and then stops. I'd bet there are 300lb men with Asthma that can run farther than that. I'd bet the could go even further with bloodlusted killers on their back...

Yeah, I avoided those games. =P I really wanted to play Alan Wake though as it looked good but I don't do well with seeing a creepy dark figure throwing axes at me and then running to light just to have the light burn out. Or being stuck in a house with it randomly being shaken by that creepy dark figure. Not cool. Please Log In to post.
