I bought my wired 360 control back in 2005 and I finally had to replace it a week ago. Amazingly, it still held up great over thousands of hours of gameplay and the only issue was that it would disconnect if I moved it around too much. I think there must have been a small fracture in the solder between the wire and the controller. TC, "really loose" is not something that is the same to everyone. If you think that it is not operating as it should then call Microsoft and see if they can replace it.Maybe. One of my controller sticks is kind of loose now, but it doesn't hinder gameplay. It just doesn't feel as stiff and when I push it in kinda clicks with a wierd sound. The difference is I've had my stuff for 4 and a half years. :P

Mines really similar, except mines only 2 years old. :PMaybe. One of my controller sticks is kind of loose now, but it doesn't hinder gameplay. It just doesn't feel as stiff and when I push it in kinda clicks with a wierd sound. The difference is I've had my stuff for 4 and a half years. :P

While I would like an internal battery I haven't had any actual issues with the battery cover, at least not the controllers fault. I did drop my controller and the battery cover exploded, but that was my fault. And when I say exploded I mean it felt into pieces. But tape fixed that like a charm.Just a bad design , battery covers always come loose , hopefully they will redesign them to a smaller internal battery .

Anyway, my first controller has one joy stick that will sometimes stay slightly to the left depending on how my thumb was touching it when i let go of it. All that means is when I stopped playing or put down the controller my character (in game) would slowly turn to the left. It only really happened then because when I was playing I was moving the joy stick so much to the point it never became an issue.
To know if your controller is defective, we need more info. If you're experiencing a minor drift of the camera or a character in the game, then it's not defective. You just experienced the inevitable drift of 360 controllers pretty early. If its something else... I'm not sure. Can you elaborate?my controllers analog sticks are already really loose. Did i get a defective controller from the start?

Well there is no drift or anything like that but they don't seem very responsive while playing CoD. The dead zone or whatever you call it seems bigger but I might just be nitpicking....my controllers analog sticks are already really loose. Did i get a defective controller from the start?

I take extremely good care of my stuff. Almost too much care, if that's possible. I've had countless other video game controllers(SNES, PS1, Dreamcast, etc.) and never had problems until this 360 one.....it really aggravates me because it's still fairly new.Are you guys rough with your controllers? I have had a controller since early 2007 and another from 2008 and they both work like new although they've had a crapload of use. I don't see any problems in the design, just take care of your stuff.
