What way should I set up my console?

This?

Or like this?

Which has the better airflow? Which position will prevent RROD?

Thanks, great to be back to the 360. Sold my old one to get back into PC gaming, but now I feel like I've missed a lot and a lot of my friends have one so I can now game with them. Now I can enjoy best of both worlds. PC and 360.

I have my elite from about a month after they made um, had it laid down and still working great. (Expect for jet airplane noises emiting everytime I play online, but I got used to it.)

I keep mine sideways. To be honest I kept my first few vertical (standing up) and they all RROD, but when I switched to horizontal (sideways) I never had an issue with my console. I think having it standing up would scratch my disks sometimes too it's just sort of awkward for the disc.

It makes more sense if it was horizontal, as it would maybe prevent the gpu solder from coming loose, which will lead to your favorite RROD. Meaning 0102 error, or 0020 or some variation of that.

I've always had mine horizontal. I bought an Elite last year and know it will never pack up on me unlike my 4 Pro consoles before it.

This one makes the most sense. That's how I have mine set up.

I have mine vertical and haven't had any problems. And to those that claim their 360 got RRoD due to their console's orientation, you have no actual proof that for your console, THAT was what caused it to fail. No matter what way you have it, some of your vents will pretty much always be blocked. Just do whatever you feel like doing and don't worry about it. Don't worry your life away friend.

horizontal provides better air flow and prevents accidental disk scratching so horizontal FTW my friend

I'd recommend laying it down. I had it standing up vertical and it caused problems I suspect after being like that for a few months. The disc drive stopped reading disc..I layed it down and put a music cd in, it read it, then I put a game in and it started reading my games again. Plus the folks at GameStop said keep it laying down, because it being up will cause so many problems it's not worth it. So with any console for now on I'll lay it flat.

Horizontal, a horizontal 360 gets better air flow and can't fall over D:

Horizontal for sure, better airflow, discs stay in place better(i hate putting them in a vertical console, cuz they always fall a bit and seem like they will scratch(just me i guess)), and there isnt the chance that it will get knocked over and broken.

Either ways have no problem..and u will seegripper pads on both the sides..either ways works as the way u like it ;) ...

i have kept it horizontal cozits easy for me to insert the disc and saves a lot of room for me :)
