seems like a pretty old tv. i would wait till after christmas and football season when alot of hdtvs go on sale. but thats just me.
1080i and 720p has been debated to death. they are pretty damn close.
1. 1080i and 720p are pretty similar, just try each one out and see which looks best for your tv and games.
2. My toshiba has good enough built in speakers to not need surround sound but some tv's are different and its always a nice add on.
3. Forgot your third point =/.

3. Hdmi cables are ideal for 1080p tv's because you can only see 1080p with most systems or players on your tv with them lol. They are also good if you want all your audio and video through one cable but im not sure if they have that big of an effect on 720p/1080i tv's. Btw, I looked at the link to that tv and I got a similar one at a wholesale place for 900 bucks 7 months ago but it was a toshiba. You should check out some 1080p tv's like westinghouse or some other brands im sure you can find one for your budget.
So in a few weeks I'm buying my own HDTV to play all my 360 games on. I just a few questions about it1.Is 720p better for gaming then the 1080i setting that is alsoon it?2. Do you really need surround sound speakers for your room?3. Since I don't have an Elite, are the normal HD cables just as good or is HDMI something I should be considering?Strife881. 720p is best for the 360. 1080i while has the higer res reduces the quality of movement so its harder to see whats going on. Also, there is next to no games which use any resolutions higher than 720. 2. Doesnt hurt...
