Focus on leveling what you use the most... If you use pistols/rifles... Level Small Arms... Laser/Plasma weapons, Energy Weapons, etc... Also if you are going for achievement or if you are just a big giant completionist... Never raise any skill above 90 or any SPECIAL stat above 9 because the bobble heads (one for each skill and special stat) will raise them by 10 and 1 (skill 10, special 1)...

You could also say the same about any skill really because there are 25 of each skill book in the wasteland and with the perk that gives 2 points per book, you could essentially get 100 in all skills without every spending more than 40 points in each of them...

And if you have the GOTY edition, or have bought the broken steel DLC, there is a perk that raises all special stats below 9 to 9... So with the DLC and careful planning, you can create a completely maxed out character (100 in all skills and 10 in all special stats)...

Also one more tip, stay completely good or completely evil through a playthrough... Each give unique dialogues and bonuses (but being in the middle doesn't)... Plus the level achievements for leveling focus on your personality (reach level XX as an evil person, a good person, a neutral person, etc... For each level achievement)... So try to get all of the bad, neutral, or good achievements in one playthrough, then work on the others in later playthroughs...

Just finishing up the DLC's of the GOTY myself at the moment.

Recommend building up small guns, lockpick, barter, science, sneak at the start.

Also make sure to get the educated perk and I think it is called literate.

Gives u more points per book that u read and also gives u more points to spend on ur stats from 19 to 23.

U get 2 points added to ur stats per book read rather than 1.

I would recommend not reading any books until u get these perks.

Whatever you do, or don't do... put points into speech. This will open up more dialogue with the NPCs you come across in the game. It changes your entire gaming experience and it's highly recommended. It gives you more choice with how to respond and makes it more dynamic.

-Always invest a few points in small arms, medicine, repair, and lockpick.

- Explore everywhere you can you never know when you might run into some good stuff.

-save often because what I said above will get you killed alot

- Do Moira Brown's quest ASAP, do at least the first part of the quest and do the optional stuff she offers.

- If your inteligence is below 7 I reccomend lvling it up at least once with "Intense Training"

- Perks you must have: Toughness. Entomologist, Educated, swift learner (only once you'll have plenty of chances to get xp), strong back, finesse, fast metabolism, better criticals, andconcentrated fire.
