Flet me know what you think... I did this and this works really really well.  Its inexpensive, and extremely easy and durable.

Yeah man, I would have gone in a totally different direction with the art style. Where are the special effects? the hot chicks? Really tho, yeah your idea will probably help some people who are having serious issues. Your 360 will retain less heat if its not sitting immediately on top of something that is returning heat to it.

Great idea! But... how would you keep a vertical console cool? (besides the intercooler)

I heard that some people have their 360's hanging by string to keep them cooled. I ended up hanging my 360 with a single string and having a fan blow on it, but I find that it scratches too many of my games, I think cause the 360 is moving too much from the wind of my fan.

That almost seems like a joke. Vertical is probably the best way to put it for overall ventilation, but its also a bit more dangerous since it can fall over, etc. I guess though you could stand it up and have a fan blowing on it. If your 360 has space around it and is not on a carpet or some other heat retaining material it should be fine. Now, if in that situation it isn't fine, then your 360 is just broken, or will be broken soon.

I just have two empty game cases underneath mine, which I keep vertically. I left it on for 10 hours straight. No problems :)

I used water bottle caps... they are white so they match the console and they give about 0.5" height from the ground.

That's actually a good idea because the water bottle caps are wider than they are tall decreasing the risk of it collapsing.

You can also put a frozen bottle of water with a rag beneath it next to the intake of the 360.

Dont understand why the 360 even has vents on the bottom of the system. Did they think everyone had floating technology or something. This would be a good idea though since the bottom of my 360 is usually really hot after playing for a few hours.

but if you have the 360 standing up doesnt that cause the disc to get scratched easier?
