Its a games console, not a glass car, if the room feels like an oven then yeah I guess its bad, seriously though, just put it on a table and the fans should so the rest.

Agreed. I understand it's a delicate machine but it seems like you are coddling it too much TC. Just play and stop worrying. That's what warranties are for!

I think hes being cautious--which is fair enough because who wants the worry and inconvienence of having to ship the thing back. Too many people are like "worry about what to do when it happens"....silly :P A few tips to qoak -- Have it on a table and not in a closed cabinet, make sure vents are off the table by an inch or so to allow ventilation, open a window if the room you play in is small, have a fan blowing on the back of the 360 whilst playing. I had a 360 that overheated because i kept it in a semi-ventilated cupboard thing...where all hot air was just blowing back on the 360(my stupidity) but some people dont know or thought that a machine such as the 360 would have adequate cooling....(me) :D But now i do all of the above when playing and my new 360 has ben running for ages. Mind you, i think i just had a faulty 1st batch of 3red rings xbox's at first :(

no actually the 1st batch of launch consoles had a lot of issues. I know this because my GF owns a game shop and her 1st batches (as well as other competing shops) were said to have been returned to the shop(s) because they were faulty/overheating. maybe the case for the USA wasnt the same but i dont know about that.

Your an ignorant fool. The PS3 runs way cooler than the 360. I cant play my 360 for over 3 hours becuase I can smell it burning after running it that long. Yet my PS3 runs fine for upwards of 15 hours.

hahaha my a$$ ps3 go can 15 hrs. psh that black grill u call ps3 can go 2 hours tops before exploding!

You don't even own a PS3 or an X360 and you start flapping your gums? Stupid man. Just stupid.

Now if only there were enough good games on the PS3 to give you 15 hours of play time. ;)

No need to do that, the air won't go inside the machine becasue the 360 is pumping out the warm air at the back.

Just put it on a metal shelf (like i do) with lots of space at the back so that the heat is not convined back to the console in any way and you'll be fine.

Or you know, don't be so close-minded and realize that there are plenty of conscientious Xbox360 owners out there who take care of their console and still suffer those problems. Launch console, 1 problem. Replaced for free at Best Buy, 2 problems. Replaced one more time at Best Buy (product replacement warranty), flawless since. Attributing all hardware failure to user error is pretty childish.
