Pics of Kinect innards for hardware geeks like me. Also info about how to set-up the Kinect. You'll have to calibrate the audio system on the Kinect everytime you rearrange the room.

Yeah, it seems Kinect would be better used for non-gaming purposes. The things that wowed me at e3 was the whole voice control and the Kinect Dashboard, the only game that looked interesting was Child of Eden. I think this would've worked better if it was integrated in TVs.

No it won't be ... it will FAIL harder than both of those put together!! I mean really who in the world is even interested in this let alone going to buy it?

Even pre orders here in the UK are almost non existent which i was MS would worry me greatly considering it's meant to be the 'biggest' thing this Christmas

Or the HD-DVD player. Or the Vision Camera. (Both of which I owned.) But I am still getting Kinect.

"3D sensing has been around for 15 years, Raghu explains. What Microsoft has done, he says, is taken 3D depth-mapping technology that typically costs $10,000 to $150,000, and made it at volume, for cheap." That was informative.

I always felt about Kinect the same way that the people at Microsoft do. That it goes well beyond gaming. Put aside for one minute, your opinion of the games that will be released when Kinect comes out and just respect the tech. We all know that the games right now aren't exactly stellar. But I believe that in time, with more developers getting familiar with the tech and its possibilities, we can see some cool things. And if they release "Kinect" API to open source developers, we can get some really cool uses for the device. I really see this technology coming to the Windows OS. It does seem like a more natural environment for its uses. I'm sure that at some point we will be able to take the Kinect devices that will be released this year and plug them into a PC as a new user interface device. The software support just has to catch up, which has probably going on this whole time.

Yeah the HD-DVD player was a fail... price and because HD-DVD faded away. Vision Camera is a fail just because the Xbox should recognize ANY webcam -_-
