So for christmas I have the option of getting Kinect as one of my gifts or 3 new games? What should I get. I'm not asking for game recommendations so yes this is a legit topic it doesnt need to be under the recommendations sticky. This is me asking more or less your opinions of Kinect. Will it be worth a purchase in the long run? Or am I better off just getting some new games and waiting to see if its a bust or not?

It all depends on you.

Kinect is already "a bust" if you don't like motion gaming, or if you don't have friends and family to enjoy it with. (or the room to play it)

The games (so far) will not last as long as RDR or some other AAA title, but they are fun in little spurts (or until you run out of energy, anyways)

Some people hate it and some people love it. Most people on here will tell youtoget Black Ops, ACBrotherhood and a third game that is awesome.

I would say if you have friends and family and enough room to play, you should get it. You've already shown interest, so you obviously aren't a "hater".

Yeah I'm most definately not a hater of motion gaming. I prefer controller to motion gaming but I'm open to new and innovating games no matter what console. I prefer the 360 but I love all developers. I'm one of those people that pretty much will play anything if its worth my time. I don't hate. So if Kinect is worth it I might as well give it a try, if its not then I will wait till it gets more developed. It has a lot of potential i think.

I would personally go for 3 games.

My own thoughts on Kinect aside (I hate it), a lot of the launch titles for Kinect aren't getting good reviews. I'd wait until there are games you really want for Kinect to get one.

I traded in my Wii to get mine. Had it for about a year. I've enjoyed my Kinect more in the past two weeks than I did my Wii the whole year. (Pikmin, Monster Hunter, Mario Party??, Animal Crossing, Order Up, Endless Ocean, I forget the others I had... traded them all in)

I would say, go with getting 3 games, I'm not hating on the Kinect, I want one myself, sooner or later, but it's going to better to wait until more games have come out for it, developers have gotten a good grasp on how to start making the most out of the technology and, most importantly, the price of the Kinect will come down, leading to better deals for consumers.

I'd give it six months to a year, so ask for it next Christmas. :D

Isn't Kinect really only worth 2 games (with many games being 69.99)?

Anyways it depends. There are alot of good games out. If you are going to get Call of Duty, Halo Reach, Assassins Creed, Fable 3, or Fallout new vegas for the games then i would get the games. However if you already have most of those awesome titles i really dont see anything wrong with picking up kinect instead of a couple games.

No games are like 59.99. Kinect is 150 and 3 games would be 160 so Kinect pretty much is the same as getting three games. Or something else. It doesnt have to be games I just cant think of anything I want for christmas. I need ideas hahaha!!! HELP ME!

It's a hard choice, man. Like I said, I traded in my Wii and all its gear, so it wasn't an issue at all for me.

You need to consider the fact that you will have to get the Kinect for $150, AND at least another game to make it worthy of getting it for Christmas (especially compared to getting three AAA titles). And I would say your best choices at the moment are Dance Central, Kinect Sports, Kinectimals, and maybe JoyRide. (unless you are unfit like I am and buy "Your Shape")

I love the Kinect, and it is definitely a worthy purchase in my opinion, but you're pitting David against Goliath here when you break it down to a "versus" purchase.

Do any of the games I listed above compare to 3 AAA titles?

Hardly.

Why not just buy a bunch of second hand games? or better yet rent them, you'll get a lot more for your money that way.

thats all on you man.

personly i am happy with kinect right now and i have a blast with it when i play. i would see i'm a well balance gamer who likes quite a bit of different type of games

if you have at least 8ft in fron't of you and t.v and some space on the right/left so you can jump to left in right kinect will work great in your room. box says 6 ft but thats pushing it

look sounds like don't have really money your self to go shoping for other game for kinect when your ready? well if that is the game the 3 games might be best choice. but if your able go get otehr game along with kinect. then i say kinect

I depends. I think kinect is dumb. Plus, there aren't really any good games out for kinect from what I hear. I'd go with 3 new games.

Another thing to consider is if you make any money or what other time of year can you ask for other gifts that aren't as large as the Kinect.

For example, my brother wanted to get a bunch of CD's, some movies, and a few games last year for Christmas, but I convinced him to just lump all of the gift money together and get a 360.

After Christmas he bought the other stuff whenever his budget allowed, because they have a smaller price and are able to be bought individually (unlike the Kinect).

But then again, we are in our 30's and we get paychecks every other week. It is easy for us to come up with $20 for a movie or a CD when we want to (or maybe $60 for a game). I don't know if you have a job or not, or what kind of financial situation you're in.

I love my Kinect, but i might choose three new games instead, for now anyway. Kinect is not going anywhere and you might as well wait until there are better games to choose from than Dance Central, and Kinect Sports. ( not that they are bad games, just, you know what i mean ).
