Konami rumoured MGS announcement

Tell me if I'm wrong but wasn't today the 18th Maysupposed to be the announcement by Konami of a rumoured MGS game? It's related to a Japanesse advert in one of their magazines stating the date 05.18.09.Theres been plenty of rumours (which I find espeacilly hard to believe now) that this secret announcement was that MGS4 was heading to the 360 in the form of MGS4: Oxidation which would be similar to MGS2: Substance which was released back in 2002.

Anyways this morning I jumped over to the Konami website and found this... http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/

I don't know how long thats been there or if it's just been put up today. It's showing about a 86 hour countdown which would lead it into the end of this week Thursday to be exact (I think). It's flashing up with the number '5'. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude that it's supposed to be MGS 5. Which in my opinion destroys the rumour that MGS would be coming to the 360. Konami and Hideo would never release the sequel to one of the strongest games on the PS3 in multiplatform form. It wouldn't make sense and I'm sure definatly void their contract with Sony.

Opinions?

If I'm way off mark and this 'countdown' has been up for along time then please let me know. I'm sure however that the 18th May was a supposed date for more info on Konami's next project and I'm assuming it's this.

I think it is going to be MGS 5...I hope it will be release on xbox 360 but I think it will stay on PS3...anyway we have great exclusive for this year

From what I've read elsewhere, that supposed ''5'' is actually an ''S''. In other words, and don't quote me on this, it could mean ''Substantial''. Like previous games in the series, they've released upgraded editions in the past (Substance and Subsistence). So we might be looking at a Metal Gear Solid 4: Substantial being released in the near future. I don't know if it'll also get ported over to the Xbox 360, but I really hope they do.

3. It could be ported to 360 just like bioshok was ported to ps3, Why is it so hard to beieve that it is. I hope it is going to I have a 360 and I beat MGS 4 at my cousin's house. I want konami to get as much money as possible so that they can make MGS 5 just as good as 4.

it might not be MGS at all + kojima isn't working on MGS 5 this time around.

nope, sorry guys, MGS is NEVER coming to 360, this is just konami`s new game "Tornado Outbreak" the flashing 5 could be the number of days left till the reveal or an indication of a force 5 tornado.

just wait, the storm will get worse and worse on the flash page, and reveal a tornado on the last day.

the only thing konami are getting from keeping mgs4 a ps3 exclusive is less sales.

The countdown ends on June 1st which happens to be the same day Microsoft presents at E3. Coincidence? I think not. It is MGS for Xbox 360. Whether it is MGS 5 or 4 or something else, who knows.

1. Did you forget about Duke Nukem Forever? It was announced over a decade ago. And stilll nothing.

3. Or the way they ported MGS 2 and 3.

Metal Gear Solid 4 won't be coming to the 360 unless the PS3 has something that will generate more cash flow (ie MGS5).Plus the MGS series is Sony's flagship series.To place the MGS series onto the 360 would be akin to putting Halo on the PS3.Of course that doesn't mean there will never be an MGS title on 360, it means it won't be MGS4.It'll be a spin-off.A Raiden spin-off.Heshertonfist

no it wouldnt. sony dont own konami, and the metal gear series didnt start on a sony system, the only metal gear games that konami have made exclusive to sony systems have been metal gear 3 and 4. imo its highly plausible that mgs4 could still at some point appear on 360.

They never ported 3. MGS2 is the only MGS to be ported to a Microsoft console.

I think it looks more like a 5 than an S. I don't think MGS4 will be ported to the 360. The main reason I think this is because while playing MGS4 there are several moments where the developer goes out of his way to point out that the game is PS3 exclusive. To include that in the game then port it to another console would make you look stupid and he'd lose a lot of integrity with his core PS3 fans.

The PS3 fans are his dedicated fans and he knows that. How many of you in here asking and hoping for a 360 port have even played all of the first three games? MGS4 has been designed to play on the emotions felt from playing the first three games and play on the nostalgia. This is an important part of getting the best from the MGS4 experience. Even if MGS4 was ported you wouldn't have a clue what it's all about. Then all the "Who else is disappointed with MGS4?" topics would start.

Fact is you aren't diehard MGS fans. If you were you would've bought a PS3. Kojima doesn't give a **** about you or the 360.

Sorry. Miss informed. I have to agree with everything you just said. I doubted that it would get ported, and, truthfullly, I don't think that the 360 can hanlde Metal Gear Solid 4.

That's true, but they still have an upper hand. The Sony systems are getting more and more momentum in the industry.

You forget how much money MS has...

I agree that it does look more like an S than a 5. a few things that bug me about it being MGS5, it seems too soon. It's been barely a year since MGS4 was released. There was a good 3 years between when MGS2 and MGS3. However, there was a year between when MGS2 and MGS2 Substance. I still doubt it's a MGS4 (insert vague subtitle here) for the 360 but it makes more sense to me than MGS5. Here's hoping...

I think the "5" is actualy an "S". So I'm not completely sure if MetalGearSolid5 will be revealed, I'm guessing it' an "enhanced" MGS4- kind of like MGS2: Subsitence. MAYBE on 360, not completely sure
