I am getting pretty sick and tired of seeing people complain about the FREE DLC Valve made available for download, because there arguments make NO SENSE!
Here are all the rebuttles:
1-This DLC did not come free to Valve, someone did have to develope it, which means it took up their labour time, labour COSTS MONEY, therefore Valve DLC=/= Free for Valve. So them giving us free DLC is extremely generous
2-No where on any official report did it say there was going to be more campaigns, so why people were expecting them is pretty much their own silly fault for reading and researching and yet never the less IT IS FREE and thus you cant really feel annoyed for having 'purchased' it
3-Why didnt they wait to put it with the campaigns? why? are u serious? so your saying instead of free DLC now, you would rather pay for the same DLC later as long as it came with some new campaigns, just because this DLC was released now doesnt mean it delays the release of the campaigns SOMEONE STILL HAD TO MAKE THIS DLC AND THUS IT DOES NOT MATTER, ONCE AGAIN ITS FREE
4-The game is too short, new campaigns should be expected...so really your annoyed that once again you failed to do your research and read the reviews that stated many times that there were only 4 campaigns that were short and didnt take that long to complete, not anyones fault BUT YOUR OWN that you spent $60 on a game you didnt like that much

5-Finally, anyone who does complain is ungrateful and spoilt. Ok, you didnt get everything u expected, but IT WAS FREE, it was fun and the other DLC is still being released. complaining makes you sound like an ungrateful child saying 'But i want it now,' developement of an entirely new campaign takes time and the fact that they released this FREE DLC before hand just to give us something new until more DLC comes out, i think was extremely nice

i agree with you 100%. ppl should not complain about anything when it is free. if you don't want to play the survival mode then don't, but just stop complaining

Complaining about ridiculous things is something game forum users do best. That, and asking other people what games they should get.

Anyways, I agree with you. I downloaded the DLC when it released, started playing it, and frankly wasn't impressed at all. But at the same time, I'm not about to complain. I also haven't played L4D in months though, so it's been kinda dead to me for a while anyways. I had fun playing a couple of rounds of VS on the new maps, but it didn't last. Survival, I agree, sucks.

But again, why are you complaining? Who cares? It was free. You didn't waste any money on it.

Agreed. People should be glad that Valve actually did some work instead of releasing a free POS skin pack instead, you know?

I'm not about to complain about this game (yes I am), but I will say that for some, including myself, haven't touched Left 4 Dead in awhile, and were generally disappointed in the overall product. People seem to love it, and I really want to share the same enthusiasm, because I know it's a good game, but is being held back by a serious lack of content. I was just hoping that the DLC would spark a long and sustainable interest for me. It has nothing to do with the DLC being a let down, in terms of content provided; it's mostly a personal thing.

Yeah, but your arguement is fair. Or at least the way you worded it, lol. You don't sound ungrateful by any means.

I feel the same way as you, basically. I played the game a lot when it came out. As much as I could with what it has. If the DLC had added new campaigns, even just one or two, I would definitely 100% have to pop in L4D and play those bad boys...With this DLC, I just casually downloaded it, tried it, thought "meh", and went back to other games.

It's nice having the other two campaigns added to VS. But it's not enough to bring me back to the game. Survival is pointless.

So, I'm aware this all probably sounds like complaining. It's not. It's only complaining if you care. This is just criticism.

I loved L4D, butI was getting tired of playing the same 2 versus campaigns over and over. While now Valve fixed that. I haven't tried the survival mode, but from what it sounds, it seems a little mediocre. But, once agin, IT'S FREE!

I'm ungrateful, how dare those A-holes at Valve release DLC with new maps but skimp on the never campaign announced mode, and have the nerve not to charge us for it! They need to get on the ball and give us fans what we obviously want, some 198kb costumes! That's easily worth 400ms points. Or even better, a weapon pack for 800ms points that includes 2 new weapons! Way more satisfying than this free crap they obviously FORCE on us to download...

Considering the fact that they announced what the dlc would include i see no reason to be disappointed. Not to mention this was free what if the new campaigns are too? I am very happy that they released this without charging that means that they can release stuff on xbl and not charge.

I would expect someone who plays Burnout Paradise to know that just because DLC is free, doesn't mean it has to be average.

Black Box has released a bunch of DLC for free and it's all been great from what I've heard. Yet, nobody really likes the free DLC for Left 4 Dead.

BTW. Valve is a PC developer, and always will be. They try to get all the DLC on 360 for free, even the update for The Orange Box. They aren't like console developers who say "oh hey, let's make an alternate outfit and put it on the marketplace for 500 points!"

So, for a developer who has constantly put out great updates to games, I, aswell as others, expected better.

I'm actually relieved that they added the other two maps in to the multiplayer aspect, it gives me a good reason to keep playing the game in case they do plan on releasing newer DLC in the future.

Stop complaining! if you get board of the same 2 campaigns in verses then stop playing them for christ sake! L4D isn't the only game made for the 360 and there are loads of other zombie games to play like COD5 and shellshock2

This is just my opninion. Valve released a pretty short game which is very fun to play but it was not worth full price due to its small contents. I feel this things should have been in the game in the first place although it is fine that they decided to patch (this new DLC seems more like a patch to me) the game. I'd like to see some additional maps and I'll even pay for them as long as the sell them for like 400 MS points.

And I agree. I love the game, I really do, but 4 campaigns is just not enough. Now, I don't have a problem with this DLC, and I actually really like Survival, but I just wish there were more campaigns out, or at least announced. I didn't think more campaigns would be in this DLC, because they made it clear from the start, but it still does annoy me that it took them nearly half a year to get out this 'DLC'. The survival mode is cool, but the two 'extra' versus campaigns really should have been there from the start.

However, the DLC is fine because they knew they couldn't charge for it, and good on them. It doesn't change the fact the game needs more campaigns, and I just hope they are coming. However, I do understand that it takes time and effort. I would love to pay for campaigns though.

Perhaps the biggest problem is that people expect the excellent level of support Valve offers its PC games to also come to consoles. TF2 should have been enough of an example to highlight the different levels of support Valve offers console ports compared to the PC version. The fact that Valve have actually released any DLC for L4D on consoles is surprising.

Many of us are not "Ungrateful" for the DLC, but we were dissapointed. Yeah it was free, but it sucked. So if someone handed you a piece of garbage and said, "Here, it's free" Then you automatically have to be grateful for it? No. Who cares if valves DLC was free it was terrible. It was a letdown.

Yeah, TF2 is a shining example, but I do think Valve should support the 360 version, maybe not as much considering their primary market, but give it the base support. TF2 got nothing. However, I am glad to see they do want to provide the 360 version with content for this game, even though it's no the content that I really desire at this point.

Many developers actually complain at the inefficiency of Microsoft's quality control testing. I've heard it said that games have been done and ready to go, but can't be released to the public until Microsoft has gone through their own testing. So while I can't say for sure if this was the case with Left4Dead's DLC, it's a possibility that it didn't take half a year to complete, only to finally be released.

Again I think this has more to do with Microsoft than with what Valve really wants. On the PC they do can whatever they want to do, release whatever they want to release. On the console they have to jump through more Microsoft hoops to get things done. They same level of freedom isn't there. If you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at Microsoft.

This isn't an accurate analogy. Garbage is something NOBODY wants and these forums have already proven there are people that enjoy the DLC. So really it's more like being handed a onion and being told, "here, it's free". If you don't like onions then it seems worthless. If you do, then you appreciate it. Actually if you were brought up correctly you would still appreciate the GESTURE of being given a free onion, even if it happens to be something that holds no interest for you.

people are ungrateful cuzz it doesnt add anything to it, when they came with a press release of DLC coming up i was excited, then finding out it was only in Versus, the most boring game mode ever that kinda sucked.

and survival is really nothing but something to keep u entertained for like 1 day.

so i can see why people are complaining, because this is one of the best games ever (being a zombie-fan like me this was the best gift since... ever)

then thinking your in for a whole bunch of new campgaigns to satisfy ur needs and then getting nothing, kinda sucks :P

but im not complaining :P

Excellent point. Microsoft probably do have a lot of hoops developers have to jump through. However, my main complaint about no new campaigns coming is still valid because they haven't even announced anything. I am just hoping they have been busy making some new campaigns and will announce it publicly when they are ready to put it out live. That would be an excellent surprise.

Wow. Why was a thread even made about this? Survive 999.99 minutes already? Does it really bother you people that some players don't think the survival pack is the boost that will keep Left 4 Dead fresh? Do what I do, put another game in the disk tray and play it until something more promising comes around.
