The title says it all, your opinion?

I was rather thinking that all would be the same except the setting and cars etc, IMO, nothing against the game I love it.
The investigative elements of this game is rather boring.
Now, if they could combine the superb facial anims, modern day investigative tools (ala CSI) & some action elements, it could make a good game.
As it is, LA Noire is not an exciting experience, it's rote learning at it's best.
Not exciting for you. But this was never intended to be GTA in the 40's or a twitchy Call of Duty or Halo experience. The investigative elements of this game is rather boring.

Yeah, I agree with this. One of the best features of the game is the 1940s time period, so I totally disagree.

I see mixed emotions here, and I was not attacking the game as it is, it was a "IMO" thing, something different to that already exists, both are great, mark my words. But a modern times version would be the **** for me, as Iam a fan of that. More action, more possibilities and longer cases. Stop comparing it to CSI, just imagine all the action and "attention to detail" even in just a modern day NYC. And lets all be honest, (off topic) the driving sucks in LA Noire.

Why, there are no actual reasons for it to be that? Or am I wrong?

Because, like others before me said, you are taking away the best environmental element of the game and replacing with an interactive version of Law & Order. YUCK!I guess its another "taste" thing then, although I love the idea (it may sound kiddish) of modern cars and technology. Gets my adrenaline going.
Maybe as a spy or a bounty hunter, but not a cop.I guess its another "taste" thing then, although I love the idea (it may sound kiddish) of modern cars and technology. Gets my adrenaline going.

Don't we already have CSI games?
Agent_Kaliaver
They suck compared to LA Noire. Comparing CSI to it just isnt fair.

Yeah, I agree with this. me too. love the 40's style throughout!I still think the 1947 setting is a complete waste.
The investigative & interrogation elements are farcical.
Surely, a game with this much cutting edge tech needs to live in the present time.
Present day CSI. NYPD, NCIS,Numbers, would be more relevant.
I really cannot understand why 1940's America was chosen as the setting.
Hmm,.......
I think people are missing the whole idea behind the 'noir' genre. There's a sty|e to the presentation that sets it apart from other types of presentation. From chapter titles to the music, narration and dialogue.
Sure, you can have modern noir, but I think the aesthetic would be lost to the average gamer.... in much the same way 'noir' flies over the heads of many people playing LA Noire.... apparently. What saves it from being just a wierd game is the era in which it's set.

Great. Then you understand why I don't think it would do that well commercially. It could serve a niche audience, but that's about it.
You asked for opinions. Well, there you have it.
