I'm wondering if it matters if the 360 console is better laid flat or standing. I was watching the gaming HD channel on cable TV and noticed that in the tournaments I always see everyone with their consoles laid flat. Mine is standing up and I wonder if I'm missing something. I would think they would stand their consoles up in a LAN situation to save space, so I'm curious.
^^I know I have mine standing up and live in California. One small earthquake and bam, 3 feet to the floor with my ps3. I should try and secure them cuz I don't have room to lay them flat.

Damn right! I'm not running under a table or doorway, I'm running to my consoles so they don't tumble, lol.
If it is on a hard surface I think that the difference in cooling would be negligible. I will say that both the fan and the drive seem quieter when laid flat.
