Hey guys, I was planning on having a LAN party tomorrow, but I just realized that my modem only has enough space for 4 ethernet cables, and I was planning to have 5 xboxs set up. I have a wifi adaptor, is there anyway I could hook it to my lan network to bring in a 5th? Thanks!

use a switch off your router. Surely someone has a switch. Everyone should own a switch, they're only about $25-$30

If it's a wireless router someone can bring their wireless adapter.

How exactly does one hook up LAN in the first place?

You use a router and everyone connects to it and bam you have LAN. Now IDK if it will work wireless that way. It seems it should though since everyone is connected to the same network even though one is wireless.

Yeah, that's exactly how it works. As long as the router is wireless capable, even the people that connect wirelessly are on the Local Area Network with those who are wired in with ethernet.

I hosted a Star Wars birthday party/LAN a few months ago (it was a nerdy as it sounds), and I picked up one of these for about $15-20 at Walmart. If you want a hard-wired LAN, this thing worked perfectly.

The wireless might work but if not all you need is an ethernet switch to connect to your router. It will allow you to connect more consoles in lan.
