should be ok, if your laptop has a hd mi connection then you can use your hd mi cable, if you only have a VGA connection then you need the 360 VGA cable, as for resolution you should be able to use the 360 setup menu to adjust your resolution, the picture quality is good, but it depends on what screen resolution, and refresh rate your laptop screen can manage.

you will also need to connect up some speakers for sound as well, as the VGA connection only transmits the picture and not the sound.

I suspect very strongly youve never tried this and youre just assuming it'll work because you can see the ports. Thread starter this will NOT work the ports on your laptop are OUTPUTS they only send signal OUT they dont receive them. There isnt really a way to get a laptop screen to display a consoles signal without hacking the laptop open and rigging the 360 into the screens input (which needless to say is messy, difficult and you wont have a laptop afterwards) Best i can suggest is video capture hardware that streams the signal to be recorded to the laptop BUT this is a terrible way to actually play a game full time. My advice just get a cheap pc monitor, the 360 VGA kit and that'll see you fine.

HDMI ports on your laptop do not work with the 360 because they only send out information. You'd need a capture card or something. This is really only good for recording gameplay which might be good if that's what you're aiming for. Get a small TV or something and play the way the Xbox 360 deserves to be played.

All the video ports on your laptop (VGA, DVI, HDMI) are all outputs. Most PCs are not made to input video. If you need a monitor you will need closer to $200 do get a decent picture.

I already answered you with the 1st post I replied with. The ports on your laptop are OUTPUTS and thus you cannot connect your 360 to your laptop fullstop ... I dont know what was hard to understand the first time

Can't. Sure, if you're technically minded you can cobble together some sort of hack, but that will usually render the rest of your laptop useless. All of the video ports on a laptop are output only. The only way to get a 360's output onto a laptop screen with consumer parts is to buy a TV tuner. The catch there is that they're garbage for actual gameplay as all introduce lag, and unless you spend a couple hundred dollars you aren't going to get one with component input, which limits you to 480i resolution. You're far better off to buy a cheap computer monitor with HDMI, as it'll be around the same price of a decent TV tuner, will have no lag, and you can also use your laptop with it for a second screen.
