If you consider to buy Last Remnant, you should install the game on hard drive, or else the technical problems are too annoying. But its a real fun game and very underestimated. Ok but one more advice ... you shouldn't buy it for 360, instead buy it for pc if you really want to play it. In the PC-Version theres a huge difference that makes up a LOT.
If you get it for the 360, installing it to the hard drive will significantly help out with the technical issues. The tech issues were the least of my problems about the game. I just found the battle system to be very broken and frustrating, but it's still a pretty decent game.
I think The Last Remnant is amazing. I played it for awhile beat the game and got all the achievements and there is still a good amount of stuff left to do (guild tasks, weapon customizations, increase Battle Rank, etc). I had it installed to the harddrive and I didn't notice anything but I also played it off the DVD and while the load times were longer and some occassional slow downs it really wasn't that bad. The Last Remnant gets overlooked way too much, it's a great game.

The battle system is far from broken but you are not the first to say this. Lots of people don't take the time to learn it as it is more complex than it appears.

And that's the problem with the game. In order to learn all the intricacies of the battle system, you probably need a startegy guide. It's just way too complex and the stuff that happens in the battle just doesn't make sense. It's like your enemies are immune to the stuff you have to deal with. That's why I think it's broken. It's just frustrating when something happens or doesn't happen to you and your enemy is immune to all of it.
I'm not arguing that's it's a nice game, but I personally didn't think it was great. It frustrated me. You loved it. Different opinions. I still liked it though.
Last Remnant is the most underrated RPG this gen imo.
Yes the 360 version has some issues, but not as many problems/issues if you install it onto your HD.
Good graphics, fantastic strategic gameplay/fighting, good soundtrack and interesting characters imo!
Definatly give it a go!
Just because the combat is so called "Frusterating and Hard" doesnt mean its bad or not done well. Its just more complex fighting then most RPGS have. IMO this has some of the best rpg combat in years.
My only gripe was the FPS diping when battling. Other than the Texture popin [ Witch is in EVERY GAME MADE WITH THE Unreal ENGIEN ] it was solid.
The battle system was pretty fun. With the little time I had with the game over a rental I had alot of fun, and the battle system is really not as complex as it looks.
I installed it to my harddrive, and still had a significant amount of texture loading. The load times were pretty bad too, plus every new area had to be loaded. I think I spent atleast 3 hours just in loading screens for that game.
I enjoyed the storyline to Last Remnant, and there was a mass amounts of sidequests, and a ton of things to do outside of the main quest with alot of freedom. The battle system just stunk. I understood the battle system just fine, I just hated it. The battles were slow, and once you picked your move, you had to sit there and watch the stupid battle unfold for 5 minutes until the round was over. The only interaction you had within rounds were QTE, and they hardly effected much.
The battle system was so mindless and boring, I would set my moves, then surf on the internet for 5 minutes, until the round was over. It was that bad.
