The Xbox 360 isn't even close to the midpoint of it's lifecycle. Now is an excellent time to buy a console, I wouldn't expect to see another one on store shelves for at least another 4-6 years at the earliest.

eh, your smokin your socks with that one. 360 is already kinda getting dated with its visuals, so I really dont think it can last 4-6 more years without any upgrade on the market.
Of course it trails behind PC, look at last generation. The economy isn't right for a new console quite yet, plus Natal is coming out. Microsoft has said time and time again they expect a long lifecycle on the 360.

"We firmly believe that the Xbox 360 has a life cycle through 2015 (10 years after the launch). Project Natal is a great innovation. It will work with every Xbox 360 sold. It's not about pushing more pixels on the screen. It's about how to break down barriers that stop people from playing games."
