Hi, I'm probably gonna end up getting this game for 35 bucks at Best Buy on friday, so this isn't really a "Should I get this game?" thread. I just wanna know what people think about it. Was it a good value? How are the weapons etc.

My buddy bough the game and I played it for about an hour. It looks and plays very similar to the first, which isn't a bad thing but I would of liked the game to evolve a bit more than this. The new gore effects are awesoming and I like the new infected and weapons. Over-all I don't think i'm going to buy it for $70 bucks. I'll borrow it off my friend in a few weeks. :P
I'm not too far in this game yet and I can tell you right now it's not a rip off. To begin with the new characters take a little getting used to (Some of use grew a little close to the old four) but these new guys are much more interesting/funny. The game play is still tight but they really fixed up a lot of things. Levels are longer, there are twice the zombies, and twice the guns, health, items around the map. Exploring can actually be quite rewarding in this one. The new guns feel great, even if they feel a little the same, you can find one that you like over all the others. Melee system is very satisfying. 10x more gore, more blood, more dismemberment. And finally the zombies are smarter. Um, I've yet to play the new online modes but I can't wait.
I highly recommend this game so far.
Melee weapons are easily my favorite part of the game because they are very effective and just awesome to use.
You can get it for $35 during Black Friday.i had a blast with the demo. but i will have to wait for a price drop. 60 bucks it just to much.

I dont like how every single level is already unlocked. It just seems like you got nothing to work for. Plus I dont like how you pretty much see all the weapons by the end of the second level of any campaign. But other than that, core gameplay is pure WINdeimos113About your weapon comment: it makes the game more realsitc. The idea is to make it seem like its a real apocalypse. Thats why the 2nd level is harder IMO than the rest of them.
i cant wait to get it, i never played the demo so i might download it later just to try it out. im asking for it for christmas but i hope they dont spend like the full 40 quid on it coz it makes me feel guilty for some reason.
I haven't had this much fun in an online game since I first played on LIVE when it was launched on the original system. It's a lot more challenging, the hordes are more relentless and special infected spawn all over the place and in packs. Versus feels more balanced, you don't have to spend so much time as one SI (Hunter) theres a lot of variety in the campaigns also.
Personally I felt it's what the original should have been in terms of content. It goes a much longer way in justifying the price than the original ever did. Regardless, I honestly don't feel the game really mixes things up much. Personally I think once you played campaign you've gotten about all you can get from it. People say the ai director changes the experience, I say only slightly so. Enemies and items generally aren't placed much differently between different play throughs and you're stilling fighting all the same enemies in every campaign, the vast majority of them just being retarded zombies that throw themselves at you to be slaughtered.
I feel much like in the original that since the competitve multiplayer is essentially the campaign with another team playing as special infected it doesn't feel fresh at all. You've got a been there done that feeling about it since.... Well, you have if you played the campaigns first. And the campaign environments are reused again for the survival and scavenge modes. It doesn't make them any less functional but to have the same exact environments used among all game modes, it just lacks any creativity. Especially since scavenge is an objective pulled from the finale of one of the campaigns and repurposed.
I rented it, I would have never bought it. I didn't anticipate to be too impressed either. I generally don't like zombie games since I prefer games that challenge you with intelligent enemies rather than just hordes of brain dead ones. In fact, the only reason I rented it is because all the games I preferred to have rented were gone and I didn't want to walk off empty handed since the drive to blockbuster isn't too short, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. If you liked the original then go for it. If not, forget it. Left 4 Dead 2 makes no strides in gameplay at all.
I have a bit of mixed feelngs about l4d2... I like the game, but it still feels a little light on content. Still it's a much better value than the first one, and like the first 1 replay value is huge.
Let me make one thing clear replay value, and content value are not exactly the same thing. Content is all the assets, and all the content of the game while replay value is how often you can play the game over and over again. L4D has pretty much the best replay value of any game out there.
Still it's using pretty much the same engine as l4d, and this really feels more like an really good addon than a brand new game.
Here's a basic rundown of the new features.
1 extra campaign, but I feel each campaign is shorter.
Same numbers of new characters.
20 new guns, but basically the same old guns pistol, automatic, shotgun, rifle.
All new melee combat (which is awesome)
Uncomon comon infeced: zombies in riot gear, hazmat suits, clowns, and mudders are all new, and I think there's more common infected skins.
2 added play modes: realism, and the gas can mode are 2 new modes. Basically doubling the modes available.
3 added infected: now the original game had 5 special infected, but it's quiet possible that they just didn't want to have a ton of infected by adding 5 more. Still I would of liked to see some better additions to the classics.
4/5 new extras: A defibulator to bring back dead teamates, an adrenaline syringe to run faster, boomer bile to throw on infected, and 2 types of ammo.
AI it's hard for me to **** since the original AI was basically perfect, but I've barely noticed L4D2's AI being better.
playing online is hard if u want achievements for beating levels or jst want to folow the storyline.
it took me a couple days to figure out wat was going on... my 1st l4d game...
no tutorials for online. nuthin. very confusing... the whole game is learn the hard way.
great game, dont get me wrong, a good 8 in my book, but only cuz it was confusing.
How do you get achievements in this game? I beat chapter 1 and 2 the other night and picked up on chapter 3/4 tonight and I got nothing for beating them. I don't even know if there's a way to save your own campaign, it just let me pick where ever I wanted to start. Weird game, indeed. Anyone know how to get achievements from the campaign?
