Okay, I haven't seen this much hate for a game announcement in a while. People are, to put it frankly, furious. I have seen people posting about how RARE has "ruined their lives." A little dramatic don't you think.
However, I too am disappointed with the direction Rare chose to take this game. It would have seemed logcial to give Banjo fans a nostalgic, familiar take on the franchise, especially on the platfromer starved 360. Plus, the original trailer did seem to hint at a platformer. The choice they made seems stupid, and so does the "square" Banjo design. Wtf. The story also seems ridiculous (even more so that the previous games). The LOG has forced Grunty and Banjo to do battle in "game spheres?" Dumb.
Now, we need to accept the fact that we are not getting the Banjo Threeie we wanted and are stuck with Nuts and Bolts. The good news is the game looks fantastic in it's own right. But I do get the feeling that maybe the Banjo name shouldn't have been used on the game but whatever. Previews of the game have been overwhelmingly positive, so thats a good place to start. The vehicular creation actually does look veyr deep and well thought out, and not just a shallow gimmick. The physics and the vehicles all tie together and look like they will create a fun gameplay mechanic.
And people: RARE ONLY SHOWED ONE LEVEL OF THE GAME!!! And it is possible that the vehicular portion of the game isnt as much of the game as we think. Of course they are going to want to show it off during the announcement of the game, but aybe there is more platforming than we think. I think the biggest problem with the way people are seeing this game is that Rare probably showed off a crappy level. It's way to flat, as compared to the towering and creative levels of the previous games. Hopefully the other levels in the game aren't as flat and bland. We'll see....lets not pass judgement.
The graphics are killer too. But has anybody else noticed that the cobblestones look very flat and low res, definitely not bump mapped and pretty like in Kameo.
