After watching the GTTV special on Halo:Reach, I noticed the Spartan sprinting towards the end of the show, sort of like Modern Warfare. My question is, being a Halo fanatic as I am, do you feel it'll hurt the game or will it adjust its skill level? In other words, will the sprinting make it too "arcady", which is what the Call of Duty series is being projected as.

I like it, and I like the whole idea to jump 20 feet, since a lot of Modern FPS is been the same crap for awhile now (Mr. Camp of Duty: Modern Borefail 1.5, or I mean Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2). I just hope you sprint like in RSV 2 (or 1) when you have to hold down to LB, then you move your left Joy Stick. I enjoy that more then Modern Warfare's style, since in Modern Warfare, which you have to click on your left Joy Stick and move it, It can break you Joy Stick at times, which is a bad sign, since a lot of people is been having this problem lately when playing COD. Im not saying It's bad, since Modern Warfare's sprinting system was fine, It just needs to be in the Bumpers, atleast the left, since in Halo 3, you reload in the RB. I doubt this would happen since the left bumper in Halo 3 was to change you Grenades (like Stickies or regular grenades), but Hey! You may never know, since Bungie may change a little bit of the controls on the game.

The idea of a sprint mechanism in Halo has been long awaited for a gamer like me. The new map, that was shown for invasion is HUGE, bigger than sandtrap they said. I really think the sprinting, jetpacks and the Elite doge roll will help players get around quicker, for that extra kill or advantage.

Great Idea. :)

It is a special ability to sprint. Not everyone can just do it anytime.

SouL-Tak3R

correct.

it feels very necessary.

and I'm pretty sure these load-outs/abilities aren't going to be in every playlist, so no harm done.

Pretty sure they are, but I know they said that the load-outs available will depend on the game type

"Load Outs. At the beginning of each match or round, and again every time you wait out your respawn window, you are given the option of choosing a Load Out.

Load Outs are not player created or defined, but rather playlist and/or game type specific. Essentially, they allow you to choose your Armor Ability, your starting primary and secondary weapons, and your grenade cache on the fly.

For some playlists, that might mean every Load Out features the same weapon sets with only the Armor Abilities to distinguish them. For others, it might mean that as the game goes on, you'll have access to more and more choices based on a number of factors we can fiddle with.

That's just one example to the right. Many gametypes will feature more uniformity in the initial selection.

What it doesn't mean is that you will be creating your own custom Load Out to bring into Matchmaking. You'll be choosing from our prefabricated offerings, based on what's best suited for each gametype.

Don't worry about power weapons being available right from the start, either. In most cases, you'll still be finding those distributed via a number of methods throughout the battlefield, though if circumstance warrants it, we certainly can start you with, say, the Rocket Launcher.

And, of course, you can still loot the corpses of your fallen foes and you'll still find sweet stashes of weapons strewn carelessly about the map for you to find and acquire."

Sprinting in Halo: Reach is an armor ability. There are a bunch of others in the game such as armor lock, invisibility and jet packs. Players can only have one armor ability. Each armor ability is balanced and have recharge times so say if you have invisibility you can't just turn it on when ever you want and stay that way all match long. Once you turn it on you can only use it for a short time and wait for it to recharge.

I don't think it'll make Halo arcadey. I think it'll add a new layer of strategy and team work to the game.

Well, Bungie controls what load out are available in each game type so it's not like we'll be seeing some customized load out that will break the game.

Exactly. One thing I do hope though, and am sure they will do, is that they let you have completely custom load-outs in custom games.

LOL! Good one. :D I've been waiting for sprint for a long time. I want to be in control of the pacing of a game.. not the other way around. Games like Resistance Fall of Man, Halo games doesn't allow for sprint.. and it totally kills the pacing of the game for me. Sometimes, it's much more simple than that.. I just want to be able to sprint. Walking, jogging or whatever for an entire 8 hours doesn't cut it.

Agreed. And it's not like Spartans never ran, they always did, we just never had to perform it by the press of a button manually like MW. It will add strategy being that not everyone can run around loosely. My point really is, I really don't want the Halo series to have those "RUNNERS" that run at 90mph to stab you like in MW:2. That's the only thought that scares me about bringing that feature into Reach.

i hope the running is whatever... it will speed up the online battles but they were already fast and fine for me imo i dont think thye needed the sprint feature but we will see how it turns out on may 3rd. and I hope they can at least make the running more realistic like killzone 2's or bf bc2's, and by that im comparing to mw2's running how you can quickly turn all fast and crap. the game is gonna be epic either way and im sooooooo excited for the beta! :D
