I have a ****** router and its causing me huge problems with live.

THese are the problems it has been causing

Everytime I connect to my wireless network with a laptop i disconnect from live

My NAT is defiently open

My firewall is disabled (bad I know)

I've even tried editing my DMZ and virtual clients

I frequently get disconnected from games. For example when I play Halo I get disconnected from the game, then when i connect to live again it says the population is zero

There have even been a few instances where my xbox says I have disconnected but I am still playing on Live.

HELP! any of it would be great.

Also I am on a wired connection to a ****** Wireless N Router

Sounds like an IP address conflict. If when you use the PC, it kicks you off of Live on your 360, it's because that PC is using the same local IP as the 360.

First of all a ****** is not support officially by MS. I'd reccomend connecting through your modem if you can.

Just gonna add a question here... With all my xbox live games, whenever I try to join games they always fail until I wait around for a "Disconnected from Xbox LIVE" message while searching for a game. Then I re-connect and all of a sudden matchmaking works. Anyone know the problem? Happens 100% of the time and I hate wasting 5 minutes before I can actually start finding a game

I don't know where to begin. I mean networking issues which seems to be your problem can really cause a headache and be never ending. I can't add much sense it could be a multitude of problems but I will say make sure the 360 has it's own IP and isn't using one that may be already in use. Go into your router settings and see if it shows you the number of computer devises using the router, like mines shows the mac addresses of all units connected to the router and what their given IP address is. Other than that reset every thing including your cable modem and wait 30 whole seconds before booting on.

What does Xbox Live have to do with this? I understand it's frustrating but it sounds like a networking issue on your end...

The same thing was happening to my brother in law. I opened some additional ports on his router (I can't remember the specific ones) and he never had another problem. I'd try looking on google for the ports you need to open.

Those ports would be 88 UDP and 3074 UDP and TCP (or "both" depending on your router) I should also point out that you don't have to forward any ports if you enable UPnP and have a Microsoft Certified Router (or whatever they call them).

I hear you, I have the same router, ****** Pre-N right? I used a wired connection before and I had issues, most of the time it was perfectly fine but lately it was acting up, so I got a wireless adapter and it's flawless now. The wireless ****** routers are really designed for wireless usage, sure they have ethernet ports, but I found that that using a wired conneciton, even for PC/laptops is worse than wirelessly connecting. Sometimes the wired PC in my house won't be connected, while my macbook laptop, which is wirelessly conencted, is working fine. Get the adapter, it'll fix everything.
