I have the PC version, so this is how I do it:  Move your cursor/lockpick under those things, push it up, and left click (i don't know what the button on the 360 is) right when it touches the top.

well i havnt played in a long time but if i remember correctly you press up onthe pin and when it gets to the top u hit a? ur lockpicking skill determines if it stays up but so does ur timing. i personally just used the automatic feature and saved before i picked the lock incase it required a large amount of picks and didnt yield anything worthwile.man i wish rl had a save and load system =)

Yep, just push up on the stick and hit A, but you have to time it right to get it to stay up and if it doesn't, bye bye pick.

it took me a while how to do it properly, without using too many picks, the wat you do it is you keep pushing the pin up maybe 1,2, or 3 times untill the pin drops quickly, then the next time you pick it the pin stays for longer at the top making it easy to keep in place by pressing A

If mage, go make a lock opening spell, if not wait till lvl 10 at get the special key. Before then just press auto, using potions to boost security where needed.

There is a quest somewhere (don't remember where) but I have done the quest.  If you finish it, you get the "Skeleton Key."  It pretty much rasies your lockpicking to max level and the pick never breaks.

From what I remember it was a pain to do in the beginning but after you level up your lock picking abilities it becomes a lot easier.
