The last game to really attatch me to its story was Final Fantasy X. I'm actually thinking Lost Odyssey right now, is it similar? Or Maybe Tales of Vesperia?

Tales is absolutely FANTASTIC. I have and loved Lost Odyssey, but Tales blows it away. Great story, great battles, great quests. Get it if you're a classic RPG fan. You won't regret it. If you do, please PM me and let me know why and I won't keep recommending it so hightly!

and sorry, I forgot to add that you need to get both if you can manage the cost. But if you can only get one go for Tales. As far as JRPGs go they are both classics and good buys. They don't try many new things, but they are fantastic for what they are. Classic JRPGs....hope these bits of advice help your decision!

Except it's not really an RPG. :|

I've also heard nothing but good things about Tales but I haven't had a chance to play it since I've been playing Eternal Sonata which has a fantastic story. Lost Odyssey had an ok story that had too many "Huh?" moments towards the end.

Well, it sounds like you're a JRPG fan since FFX was your most recent attention grabber. That's why I didn't recommend Mass Effect or Oblivion. So if it's JRPG you like, Tales FTW.

Yeah, if for a JRPG then def. go with Tales, otherwise I'd heavily suggest Mass Effect. Great RPG with an amazing story.

Can't go wrong with either of those.

LO has a great story but Tales is amazing. I beat it last week and can easily say it's the best JRPG on the 360.

I already beat all of the western RPG's on the 360, and both Mass Effect and Oblivion have become some of my favorites. It seems that you guys think that Tales of Vesperia had the better story. I'll go with that one first then.

Lost Odyssey is better than Tales of Vesperia. Also, Lost Odyssey is now $35 (used) and $40 (new), so it also has the price advantage. If you loved FFX, then LO is right for you, because it shares many things in common. FFX being my last favorite FF, while LO is my new favorite RPG. It has an amazing story, and the "dreams" will be teasing your emotions and pulling at your heartstrings.

I haven't played Lost Odyssey or Tales of Vesperia, but Mass Effect has a truly exceptional story. Be warned though, it's a really short game. The meat of the story will probably only last you somewhere from 10 to 15 hours. The side quests are where the bulk of that game lies, but they unfortunately are pretty bland and uninspired. It's still definitely worth it just for the main story though, Mass Effect does a wonderful job of making you feel like mankind's only hope to make a place for itself in the galaxy. A lot of people are divided on the actual gameplay part though. I persoanlly love it, but I can see why others dislike it so much at the same time.

Lost Odyssey and Tales Of Vesperia are the two best imo.

Infinite Undisocvery and Eternal Sonata are also very good.

TOV and Lost Odyssey both have top notch storys and should be played all the way thru by any rpg fans.

ALSO.. dont judge an rpg by its demo.. I HATED the demos for Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon and TOV, but i ended up liking all those games alot after playing the full game.

TOS is the longest of all th rpgs though, my friend finished it in 81 hours. There are tons of quests in this game.

Of the JRPGs I can recommend Lost Odyessy; haven't played TOV, BG or ES yet.

others to consider if you can wait for the release is Fallout 3 or Fable 2

And if you want RPG lite there is Marvel Ult alliance; although I wouldn't reccommend it over LO.

NOW THIS GUY KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT! Tales of Vesperia is FANTASTIC, i loved it and i bought it. i rented Lost Odyssey but got so bored in the beginning, it got a lot better later but Tales of Vesperia totally "blows it away" from beginning to the end!

It's funny how some people choose not to read my previous post where I said I've already beaten Mass Effect and Oblivion.

And to the guy above me, why in the world would I not buy anything before FAble 2 comes out?

Why do people come into these threads and reccommend games that the TC didn't ask about?

Regardless of reviews I really enjoyed Infinite Undiscovery, I just finished my first play through yesterday and it is a very enjoyable story and it has a lot hidden content when you go looking for it.

I just started playing Tales of Vesperia today and it is beatifully written and the anime feel to it is really well done. Also there are some parts where I laughed out loud due to some of the dry humor.
