I am pretty sure you can transfer your live account, but I do not know how, someone is bound to come along and answer that though. If you like fighters, get Dead or Alive 4. If you have a passion for J-RPGs get Enchanted Arms. If you like tennis, get Virtua Tennis 3. If you want a beat em up and can stand sub-par graphics, get Samurai Warriors 2 or SW2: Empires. If you like Action/Adventure games get Kameo: Elements of Power. (It's only 19.99 anyway!) If you like mech games, get Armored Core 4 or Chromehounds.
As for which SKU (version, basically) to get... If you have a 1080p HDTV with an HDMI port and you think you'll be using alot of harddrive space for things like game demos, trailers, Xbox live arcade games, and IPTV, get the Xbox 360 Elite. If you don't know if your TV supports 1080p or any other resolution above standard, the elite comes with all 3 types of cables (Composite, Component, HDMI) so you're bound to get it working anyway. If you think you're not going to use the extra 100 gigs of space (Elite has 120gb, premium has 20gb) get a premium. If you're not going to use Xbox Live at all, you want a wired controller, and don't have an HD/EDTV, you're short on cash and want to save 100-180 bucks, get the Core (Not recommended.) I'll give you a list of prices and features as well.
Xbox 360 Pro $400 (Comes with Wireless controller, component cables, 20gb HDD, free silver XBL membership, ethernet cable , headset)
Xbox 360 Elite - $480 (Comes with Black system, wireless black controller, 120 gb HDD, 1600 MS points for spending on Xbox live marketplace, 2 months of XBL gold free, a free silver membership, ethernet cable, black headset, HDMI Cable, Component Cable, Composite Cable.)
Xbox 360 Core - $300- (Comes with system, white wired controller and composite (red, white, yellow) A/V cables.
Took me a little while to type all that up, sorry. I really do hope this helps.
I recommend Elite, if you wanna save 80 bucks, pro/premium
