Hello. I am new to these forums and the 360 world.  I am thinking about buying an Xbox 360, however, I heard there are different versions (such as elite). If some of you could please stear me in the direction to getting the most out of my gaming exeprience, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Here is a list of games I am hoping to get along with my 360:

Gears Of War, Robo Blitz, Spiderman 3, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, F.E.A.R.

If you have any opinions on games that I should add or remove from my list, please post aswell. Also, I have an original Xbox that has Xbox Live enabled. Can I transfer my live account to my 360?

Xbox Core: Wired Controller and a pair of games. HDD sold separate.

Xbox Premium: Wireless controller and pair of games (depending on what deals there are), 20gig HDD, Headset, ethernet cable, 1 month XBL gold trial.

Xbox Elite: Same as premium except black, 120gig HDD. (more expensive) I didn't really follow the Elite too much so I may be missing some features.

I would go with Elite if I were you. As for the game list, get GeOW and Oblivion for sure. Personally I would leave Robo Blitz. If you like Spiderman, then go for it and same with F.E.A.R. Save some money for a years subscription of XBL gold. Have fun!

EDIT: You can transfer XBL subscriptions from your Xbox to the 360, but I don't know how. Sorry.

I am pretty sure you can transfer your live account, but I do not know how, someone is bound to come along and answer that though. If you like fighters, get Dead or Alive 4. If you have a passion for J-RPGs get Enchanted Arms. If you like tennis, get Virtua Tennis 3. If you want a beat em up and can stand sub-par graphics, get Samurai Warriors 2 or SW2: Empires. If you like Action/Adventure games get Kameo: Elements of Power. (It's only 19.99 anyway!) If you like mech games, get Armored Core 4 or Chromehounds.

As for which SKU (version, basically) to get... If you have a 1080p HDTV with an HDMI port and you think you'll be using alot of harddrive space for things like game demos, trailers, Xbox live arcade games, and IPTV, get the Xbox 360 Elite. If you don't know if your TV supports 1080p or any other resolution above standard, the elite comes with all 3 types of cables (Composite, Component, HDMI) so you're bound to get it working anyway. If you think you're not going to use the extra 100 gigs of space (Elite has 120gb, premium has 20gb) get a premium. If you're not going to use Xbox Live at all, you want a wired controller, and don't have an HD/EDTV, you're short on cash and want to save 100-180 bucks, get the Core (Not recommended.) I'll give you a list of prices and features as well.

Xbox 360 Pro $400 (Comes with Wireless controller, component cables, 20gb HDD, free silver XBL membership, ethernet cable , headset)

Xbox 360 Elite - $480 (Comes with Black system, wireless black controller, 120 gb HDD, 1600 MS points for spending on Xbox live marketplace, 2 months of XBL gold free, a free silver membership, ethernet cable, black headset, HDMI Cable, Component Cable, Composite Cable.)

Xbox 360 Core - $300- (Comes with system, white wired controller and composite (red, white, yellow) A/V cables.

Took me a little while to type all that up, sorry. I really do hope this helps.

I recommend Elite, if you wanna save 80 bucks, pro/premium

As far as the games go, definately Gears of War and Oblivion, also take a look at Dead rising, Saints Row, and Crackdown.  And welcome to the community

I'd say go for the Elite if you have an HDTV w/HDMI.  Just cut one of your games, and then it is only 20 bucks more.  If you don't have an HDTV w/HDMI, get the premium.  Just don't even bother with the core.

Games I would recommend:

Rainbow 6: Vegas (best game on the 360 right now),   maybe GRAW2 (if you don't get R6:V)     Oblivion,   Mass Effect   Forza 2

Plus, there's tons of fun XBL arcade games available (GEOMETRY WARS!!!)...

You can transfer your account, very easy. From the XBL blade on the 360 you click "recover gamertag from XBL". Just folllow the on screen instructions.

Thank you all very much.:) I have made my decision.  I am probably going with the Elite, and if not that, then premium.  I am going to get Gears of War, Kameo:Elements Of Power, Dead Rising, and Spiderman 3.  I cut down on the number of games so that way there is a good chance I could get Elite.  However, if you have any more suggestions, Im listening.  Thanks again.

What happened to Oblivion? You do not want to miss that if you're into RPG's.
